My vote for Worst Broadway Theatre is the Marquis at the Marriott Hotel. I'm thrilled that "La Cage aux Folles" is returning to Broadway, but really disappointed that it'll be playing at the Marquis. There's something about that theatre that reminds me of a high school auditorium.
The Minskoff.
I liked the Marquis. I like all theaters, as long as there is a good show in there. Well, the Marquis did have a good show.

Yes, the Marquis did have a good show...when Me and My Girl played there.
I hate the Eugene O'Neill. My family had to crouch. It was very uncomfortable. But otherwise I like the theaters I go to.
The Ambassador has horrendous sight lines. Too far left or right will cut off 1/3 of the view for you

I hate when you sit in the orchestra underneath the mezz. sometimes it cuts off the top of the stage and you miss some of the upper scenery. i think such theatres are the majestic, boadway, st. james, marquis, palace...and its sad because those are probably the nicest looking theatres. the sightlines at the ambassador. they suck. my favorite theatre is the broadway theatre. it is so nice inside. it is the perfect house for big broadway musicals

The cort, lyceum, ambasador and Longacre are the worst!!!
The Cort and the Lyceum are really lovely theatres. What do you dislike about them, Missy?
The Brooks Atkinson is awful --
The Brooks Atkinson?? I think it's both very comfortable and attractive. Have you been in it in the last few years, KMF? It had a renovation not too long ago...
it must have been unless I am thining of a differnt house....
If you were in the Brooks Atkinson in the mid to late 90s, I would agree with you. It was a terrible house. I'm not sure when they gave it a clean-up and paint job, but it's now a really good looking theatre inside.
Just out of curisoity-What is the inside of the Marquis like? One of my friends saw Millie, and said that the theatre is not too impressive.
It's a vision in mauve.
Shades of salmon mousse.
And you can hear the ventilation system crank on and off.
But I think it's getting some sort of refurbishment since Millie closed.

Even though it is not that pretty I thought that the seats were really comfortable lol!
Marquis and the Gershwin. Those '70s theatre are so box-like, like a giant tissue box. No interior decore like the LOVELY Belasco. Imperial is pretty uncomfortable too.

I don't care what theater it is, as long as i'm seeing a show
Minskoff. I was in the front row and still felt like I was a mile away. Of course, it didn't help that the show ("Sat. Night Fever") was lousy.
I'm also not a fan of the Ford Center. Saw "Ragtime" there and after the opening number, my friend turned to me and said "I don't get it, there are 50 people on stage, 25 musicians, we're in row T of the orchestra and I can't hear it!!"
I don't know why people hate the Marquis. No, its not the most beautiful theatre, but I do feel like the sightlines couldn't be better, the sound system is fabulous, and the seats are incredibly comfy.
I liked the St. James but my feet were to cramped thats all.
The sound system for the Marquis is only good when a musical is involved. I saw Patrick Stewart do his "A Christmas Carol" there, and I heard more of the ventilation system than I cared to.
Marquis is horrible
THe Imperial is pretty but if you perform there it is a pain in the ass, the nearest dressing rooms are down a whole bunch of stairs and for the last 17 years the sets have been too big for the wings.
My Favorite: The Palace and (The Imperial because I got to perform there and it holds memories even though it is really really really difficult).
