Hm, hence the title of the thread...

"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."

IT WAS DEB'S IDEA! Just don't eat her, I don't have enough energy to save her.

Julie Harris in The Glass Menagerie. I expected so much more from such a brilliant actress. (I blame it on director Frank Galati. Instead of trying to direct her, he should have just stepped out of her way and let her work her magic).

I listen to the Cabaret recording with Dame Judi Dench in it constantly and personally I enjoy it better than some of the others I own. Her voice isn't her strength but as far as I'm concerned she can act circles around some of the others who have played that role.

I thought that the woman who was playing Audrey when LSOH closed was much better than Kerry Butler. When I saw Ms Butler, as hard as I tried I couldn't help but to compare her to Ellen Greene in the first performance I saw of that show years (and years) ago.

I love Bernadette, but seeing her in Gypsy was an anticlimax after hearing her on the CD. She seemed to have serious trouble with the diction, especially in the songs and the whole Mr. Goldstone scene. In Everything's Coming Up Roses, they almost dropped the entire curtain in three seconds lest she had to hold the note longer.

SHe was thrillingly stellar but her overall performance was not that great. Her Rose's Turn was better at the Tonys too.

I thought Kerry Butler was good in LSOH. I hated Michael Siberry in The SOund of Music (not that he's gifted) and he recorded the most painful Edelweiss ever!

I dunno what reviews the original poster read but nearly every critic LOVED Judi Dench in the London Cabaret--didn't she even win an Olivier? It's pretty commonly said she was the best--and the role wasn't originally intended for much of a singer.

Just look on the walls of Joe Allens lol

When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere
