Well Jerry Herman said he loves the idea. So you never know. There is definitely an interest for her to play the role.

You realize that, in order to play this role in any major mounting, one first has to beat out Carol Channing? Unless you're like Babara Streisand, that's pretty much impossible.

Some people paint, some people sew, I meddle.

I love and adore Patti LuPone, but she's not Dolly. Now, Mitzi Gaynore, on the other hand...

LuPone Dolly!!!

Can't see it either. Her belt on those songs would not do the material any favors. She'd also be a tad too aggressive to be a likable Levi.

I'm in love with the Queen Latifah idea. I think she'd be pitch perfect.

Its Patti LuPone your talking about guys. If she chooses to take on the role, Patti can and will play the role to perfection. Has she ever done anything less?

I believe that question was posed in a video interview not too long ago. Needless to say, one can imagine what Miss Patti said. from RC in Austin, Texas.. headed to the City By The Bay (SF) from Dec. 26 --- 29.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
