I would love to see West Side Story done again...this time with Maria and Tony really singing! (Nothing against Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer, because I love them, but I felt so betrayed when I was little and learned they were dubbed! :))
I would love to see Pal Joey with Harry Connick, Jr...actually, I'd like to see anything with Harry Connick, Jr...

Cabaret.
A while ago, there was something about possibly filming the show (much like what was done with "Oklahoma!" in London) if Alan and Natasha were going to come back. Too bad it didn't happen.

Posted: 3/6/04 at 8:29pmI'd like to see a new CABARET, and a new WEST SIDE STORY that was true to the stage versions. I'd also like to see a remake of GUYS AND DOLLS. The movie version butchered all of Adelade's Hot Box songs....

Posted: 3/6/04 at 8:42pmOh, god. But yes actually. The fact that they came "this close" to including "Class" and then cut it out....it broke my heart. I would favor filming the Broadway show. Just so people will now what the REAL chicago is.

Posted: 3/6/04 at 9:09pmhmmm... ChristineDaae, I too would've loved to see them, but we all know how happy I ended up being with the final cast! A film of that would've been very nice too.

CATSNYrevival -
The current Broadway revival of Chicago isn't the real Chicago. The real Chicago is the original 1970s production. The current revival is a scaled down, semi-staged production. Hell yeah - it works, but it's not the real Chicago.

Posted: 3/7/04 at 2:35pmIt's been over a year since I have heard anything new on the idea of Guys and Dolls. I also wonder what exactly they mean by "updated". This 'Update' may not be a good thing. If anyone here has more info on this of recent history I would appreciate it. I watched the movie of Guys and Dolls last year for the first time while I was in rehearsal for it at my high school. After watching it, I made a point to stay away from how Frank Sinatra played Nathan as much as possible. He was miscast in my opinion and he wanted Sky anyways so I don't think he tried very hard. Plus I just don't like the movie it seems...well...boring. Not nearly as funny as it should have been. The movie set was big, maybe it was just the style of the shows at the time but it seemed drab I can't recall there being any sunlight in the movie which bothered me. It seemed cloudy and overcast the whole time. That is just my humble opinion.

I actually love the "Guys and Dolls" film they have now---but a remake would be a wonderful idea---with the RIGHT people playing the parts.
They could do really amazing things with "Godspell", too--I wish that a remake of that would be done.
Than of course there's West Side Story--one of my all time favorites. I would love to see that done. But I wouldn't really want it to differ SO much from the original. The original is a classic- the choreography is great, and the acting is perfect.
I don't think Kiss me Kate needs a remake with the filming of the stage version. Of course, that's my personal opinion---I have the stage show on DVD and it keeps me happy.
I'm also surpised no one said Millie---this is the highest on MY list. They definitely would have to include all of the new songs. I think that Marshall could really do an incredible job with this if he chose to.
