Would you sign up for a year-long NYTIX subscription?

I've been thinking about this for a bit and I even may have mentioned it on the board once or twice. I thought I'd post about it because the president of nytix.com does post on here occasionally. Maybe if people say they're interested he might look into instituting it.

Right now the Broadway tickets subscription is $4/month and you have to renew it manually every month. There are plenty of times when I'll forget to renew so I'll miss a whole month. I just renewed and I was looking at my history and seeing how many times I just forget to renew.

So $4/month equals $48 a year. What if they offered the option of signing up for a full year at a sightly discounted rate? Say something like $42/year ($3.50/month) or $36/year ($3/month).

Magazines entice people to purchase subscriptions by offering a offering a discount on newsstand prices. Could it work for nytix.com?

Probably not. I've never really had a problem getting discounted tickets to stuff from free discount code websites, so I never really got the point of these subscription sites. If it was a discount I could only access by subscription, then I would only want to sign up for the month.

But, if people really want it that bad, then I suppose it won't hurt to implement one. Personally, I wouldn't sign up for it though.

Yes, we have been offering annual memberships for $29.95 for a while now, although we don't do a very good job marketing them - So its effectively a $19.00 saving, bringing the monthly cost to: $2.49 a month, pretty close to your estimate :)
Here is the link to the annual memberships.

Of course, there are always people who dont see the value in the subscription, they think that the offers can be gotten elsewhere for free, but we have many many examples where our codes are a lower price or have better ticket inventory available. But free is free, thats why some people read The Onion for their news and others read the NYTimes.

I would like to know what some of these many examples are.

I went to the website and many of the discount prices listed were prices I've seen if you used the free discount codes. For example, Hair lists an $85 discount on the NYTix website, but you have access to that code for free on other ticketing websites. And you do not offer that as a 'free code.' Are these discounted prices you list what NYTix codes offers you if you use their discount or just informing people what other discounts are offering people at the time?

I also notice that next to more popular shows such as Wicked and Jersey Boys, there is a 'Buy Me' button next to them, but I thought these shows don't typically discount. So I am curious as to how this works and exactly how much I'll be saving per ticket if I use a NYTix code vs. free code. Then maybe I'd be more compelled to buy a month or year-long subscription.

Hi Millie D.

Rather than produce endless examples of our Broadway code price and ticket inventory advantages with the nytix.com system, the real question is:
Are you the kind of person who likes to take the time to trawl through all the websites like BBox, TM, PB, BSpace, BWW, TM and TC emails etc to try to get the best Broadway ticket offer - Or are you the kind of person that wants to go directly to a single web site knowing that they always has the best offers and ticket research, that is guaranteed with a $25 payment to you. Is that service something worth paying for? Thats the real question to you.

Many people like you, like to take the time to do their own legwork. Our clients are people who dont have the time or inclination to spend hours surfing. Quite often we have an exclusive discount ticket offer, that doesnt appear on any web site (I figure you are now going to ask me to name which ones, currently it is 7 of our current offers) But this is missing the point, its not just about exclusivity, its a service - a service that delivers the best ticket offers day in day out.

RE: Your question about Wicked and Jersey Boys, clearly there are no discount codes at present but Lottery, SRO and SRUSH do exist for these shows, which is part of our research guide. These procedures and availablilty change very often, something that our researchers get directly from the producers. Something that the average Broadway fan doesnt have access to.

So the question remains that same, are you someone who wants to have the inside track on all Broadway discounts in all shapes and forms, or are you suffiently connected already to know it ?
And is that something you will pay for ? Even if its is a Micro payment, after all $4 is not a great deal of money. ($2.50 a month if you sign up for a year)

What is sad is when people on this board "lift" the discount codes or research from our premium guide and post them here without giving us the source credit. Because in one breath they recognize our value and in the other they are happy to rip us off.

I know you aren't of this ilk, but some people are.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to talk about our model some more.

Wait- your site charges people $4/month to give them the info on rushes and lottos that can be found online for free? Wow.

re: Would you sign up for a year-long NYTIX subscription?

I do my own legwork a lot and will check multiple sites but I usually end up going with nytix mostly because they usually have the longest discount codes. Some of the nytix codes expire more than a month after broadwaybox.com.

I, mostly, use broadwaybox for off-broadway tickets. nytix has less discounts than broadwaybox in regards to that.

Avenue Q is getting updated as we speak. Should have a new one that runs thru the end of the show in a couple of days - Not for the last week though, producer expects to sell out.

re: Would you sign up for a year-long NYTIX subscription?

Well, I prefer to do my own work, but if I can access a discount that lasts longer, is cheaper than the free discounts and is not available anywhere else, then maybe I will commit to such a service on a month-by-month basis. It is a valid concern if you are looking to make an investment, albeit a minor one, in such a service.

Generally, the discounts I've accessed for one show on Playbill, Theatermania, etc. are the same on all sites. So I rarely have to do a lot of research anyways.

I am even more confused when you have a 'Buy Now' button next to Jersey Boys and Wicked under the Discount Tickets Available column when you say there are no discounts for available for those shows.

In comparing some of the discounts on ticket sites vs. NYTix, so far I've only seen difference in length and not so much price. Unfortunately, I do not see shows enough times throughout the year to justify myself using the service. But I am curious and may buy a month subscription at some point this year.

Really? I have never had a problem obtaining lotto, SRO and rush info. I hope no one buys the service solely for this information.
