I DO have to laugh at the idea that just because someone is making a lot of money it doesn't matter how hard it is to do a job. YES, there are people doing jobs that are hard for far less money, but we aren't talking about them on this board, we are talking about actors. And as an actor myself I can tell you that this is where the old saw 'actors are people too' comes into play.

YES...as I've said before Lane is a big boy and made this decision on his own but he often sacrifices his health for his art and Brooks badgered him into doing this. Whatever his reasons for taking the role, the idea that his health isn't in question or that he's laughing his way to the bank are both silly. He took the money from the 2nd run and put it into the Frogs and has stated he will do the same with other projects...so he isn't laughing his way to the bank.

Is he hurting financially? No...but he's paid his dues and deserves to be making at least 1/16 of what less talented TV and movie stars are making without someone holding up his salary as a reason why he should be willing to take abuse.

There are comments in this thread about people making too much of this, just as there were comments about Brooks not badgering him into doing this (UNTIL his own words came from the Reidel column)...so as Master says, if and when something happens in the U.K...I expect those 'oh get over it' comments will quietly die.

Why is it so hard to recognize the human factor here? Are you jealous that he's a known name and making a lot of money? And, if so...are you so jealous that you HOPE he becomes ill or hurt? If not...fine...but then...just let it be. There are some of us who are concerned about his health. Is that a problem for you?

And I don't advise commenting on these boards that someone doesn't know someone else and therefore should focus on their own family and friends instead. For all you know the person posting DOES know the actor.

He IS making a lot of money and he IS his own boss...so if you don't choose to think about other aspects fine. But, don't tell the rest of us whether we should be concerned or not. I'd like to think that if you were struggling at work and having a rough time with your health SOMEONE would care whether YOU lived or died.

Thank you, Sam, perfectly said. And MasterLcZ - I am in complete agreement with you, too.

The lack of concern for Nathan's (or anyone's) health is thoughtless enough...but to insult people because YOU think they spend too much time worrying about another person, whether you think they know them or not...!? Um...geez, what ARE the "Concern Guidelines"? I must have missed those in Apathy Class!

Mom & Dad = Very Concerned
Partner = Very Concerned
Neighbor = Concerned
Dog & Cat = Worrisome
Pet Fish = Eh, you can buy another for $1.50
Artists I admire = Who gives a cr**? They have more money than I do!

Relax. The bottom line here is, this is not a stupid, clueless man. Please give him some credit for knowing what he can and cannot handle. I certainly don't wish him ANY ill. I just think if you know him personally and you're concerned about his health, then posting it on a message board is a serious breach of loyalty and discretion.

If you don't know him, then let him be. Why make a big deal on a message board, with people you don't know, because you think he took on a job he can't handle? It's insulting to the man.
