The samples/CD is great.. but the show itself... THAT is the true WOW!
wow is right for the first few, but i dont like all of them- the song "see me" starts off well, then seems to grow more standarish and predictable when it tries to grow in intensity. i still want to see it, though. i love "are you there" and "you and i" Updated On: 5/25/04 at 11:40 PM
BARE is pretty amazing musically, especially for something that bills itself as a Pop Opera. thank God they avoided using the term Popera! my only complaint about the music is the lack of any big finishes or chances for applause after certain great songs.

I agree with Broadway Matt about the weird endings - I never knew when to clap and was always afraid if I clapped I would interrupt the next song.
But I was simply amazed and enthralled by the show. I saw it the night before I left NYC, ditching half my family, but I knew I had to see this show. I was so right, anyone who is in New York just has to see this show. I was thorougly impressed with all the actors, acting-wise and certainly vocally, particularly Michael Arden and John Hill and Jenna Leigh Green. I was astounded (in a good way).

I agree with that. The song all grown up was amazing. JLG was incrediable and I wanted to clap for that song but it just didn't seem to fit.
Can't wait for the re opening.

I enjoy "911! Emergency" for some reason...
I actually liked the fact that there were specific places where applause felt natural. I was so caught up in the show, after ALL GROWN UP for instance that I think applause would have taken me out of any emotional place I was.
JLG rocks!
The songs are terrible. The score is good, but the lyrics? The only song I see having merit is "A Quiet Night At Home". That truly captures the essence of an outcast high school student. But just some of the lyrics are so juvenile. "How about a baseball bat? There's one in my pants." And "Portrait of a Girl". That's a Britney Spears music video waiting to happen. I was disappointed.
I think the lyrics, music and Michael Arden performance in "Role of a Lifetime" is astounding! Is he or John Hill gay?

911 Emergency is GREAT... and absolutely HILARIOUS live... if you saw it, you will understand why.
I wish "God Don't Make No trash" had been included...
nystateomind, "See Me" works great on stage.. perhaps it is like "I Can hear The Bells" from hairspray and it is difficult to fully appreciate without the visuals....
