X-mas planning

#1X-mas planning

I know it is early for most, but just started planning my x-mas trip for this year. A new block of tickets for Tootsie went on sale that start that week, so I got a ticket for that on the Boxing Day matinee. I have been trying to figure out how to get Music Man tickets, but just realized that I had been reading the dates wrong & that that show won't be until next year. I have only been briefly glancing at reviews of new shows in the Times & the New Yorker so was surprised that something they didn't really give raves to, & that sounds like hot garbage when you read Wikipedia - Hadestown - has shows already sold out at x-mas. Anyways, found a cheap back balcony seat for one night & I'll see what the what is. I will get a ticket for the Met's Rosenkavelier, & they also are doing Queen of Spades that week so that is a maybe. The new block of Hamilton tickets go on sale this coming week, so that is a maybe as well as I still haven't seen it - but if I can get a cheap seat that would be nice. Has it still got an ok cast? Right now the only show (besides Magic Flute @ the Met) that I can see with an x-mas eve show is Yiddish Fiddler. How have they been doing? Are they actually going to be able to stay open another 6 months? I am planning on a week in NY this year. Last year surprisingly Aladdin was what I left raving about & I only saw that since not much else had x-mas eve matinees. None of the Disney shows have December dates on sale yet. With no Music Man, I wonder if I should maybe do Lion King? For x-mas day I did get an upper balcony aisle seat for Moulin Rouge, which I hope doesn't turn out to be this year's Pretty Woman. How is that still open? How is King Kong still open? What won't last the summer? What is rumoured to be waiting for a theatre? What is happening at Lincoln Center this fall after My Fair Lady closes? Beetlejuice & Jagged Little Pill are of no interest. Oklahoma I don't have the patience to sit through any production of ever again - I've always preferred Annie Get Your Gun for a western musical. Last year I passed on seeing Mockingbird, & I'm still feeling that way. Thanks for any & all comments, even the snarky ones. :)

Edit: I just wanted to add, that I decided on NY again for X-mas after pricing out sun destinations for the same week.  Even just going down to Puerto Vallarta - which is pretty close when you are on the West Coast already,-when you add it all up was the same or more as a week in NY with maybe 8 reasonably priced show tickets.  Airfare is higher this year, but NY hotel rates are ok at x-mas as long as you leave before New Year's Eve.  I did Kauai this past March & at x-mas it doubles & everything is already through the roof there!  A loaf of bread is $5 or $6 US!  I did also look at Vegas for x-mas, but while resorts are cheaper then, it isn't warm enough for pools & some shows go dark. Even if NY is freezing, there is more to keep you busy during the day & I think you get good value for your money.
