I saw it last weekend. I thought Stanley was great as well. Max von Essen was fantastic, I thought he was the standout of the show. As for Calliope and Melpomene, I wasn't the biggest fan of Joanna Glushak and Sharon Wilkins. I thought they kind of forced the comedy a little, but then again I think it is going to be extremely hard to live up to Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman. But overall I had a great time at the show.

I agree with lakezurich. I would be surprised if the owners/producers at the theater in Chicago would be willing to let their theater remain dark for a month. I doubt they'd want to lose a months worth of revenue from ticket sales. We should probably wait for an official announcement. I would hazard to guess they haven't made one yet. And, sakedad, don't be rude to lakezurich. He/she is only speculating. Last I checked it was ok to speculate and give one's opinion. I doubt you are working in the industry so don't be mean to others when you don't really know either.
Plan A: Close the show in Chicago and move it to Tokyo.
Plan B: Move the cast to Tokyo with a new set and train a new cast to take over in Chicago with the old set.
Just my guesses.

They have a plan for the theatre while the cast is on hiatus in Tokyo.

I saw it. It was really fun.
I'm sure in late 09 it will be making a more traditional tour. It could also fit into smaller cities that bus and truck companies normally don't visit.
splendero03 - just thought you'd like to know I'm involved with the tour. 'Nuff said, I hope.

One does like some anonymity. And as for details about the show beyond what's been posted, it's not our place to reveal them.
Paul W. Thompson, I would LOVE it if we got our own cast. Jersey Boys first announced a 6 month run and then moved into a sit-down production, If I remember correctly. But I do not know how well the show is selling here. I hope it is selling well, but as of yet I have not seen any advertising for the show other than outside of the BIC theatres.
I am just so excited for the show! Saw it in NY, and LOVED every minute of it. And I have tickets to the first night of previews for the show here in Chicago.
And, SakeDad, I had no idea you were involved with the production. And I was in no way shape, or form trying to be snide, or rude. I was just concerned, because I want this show to succeed in Chicago sooooo much, so we may get our own sit-down production, because sit-downs have done so well here. S

There have been a lot of ads for it in the Chicago Tribune. There was a nice one last week in the arts section with Max and Elizabeth on it.
Hmmmm... guess I haven't been looking hard enough then.

I remember when I was in Chicago for the summer I was surprised to see XANADU ads in the Reader that early. Plus, it's all over the BIC Theatres downtown.
We're looking forward to a great run in Chicago!
Here are a few pictures that I took before Tuesday night's performance. The show and the cast were AMAZING!
(The blue t-shirt was made specially for the La Jolla Playhouse run. The shirt features the La Jolla Playhouse logo on the sleeve.)
Do they sell the shirt that Sonny wears on tour? I remember they started selling that late in the Broadway run.
The merchandise booth does sell the red shirt with the truck logo that Sonny wears. It's a t-shirt, not the tank top he wears in the show.
