For those who have been asking where the route was, looks like it just got published!
Xanadu On Tour
Glad Seattle was finally announced. I knew it was going to Portland so I figured it'd be here but you never know. Thanks goodness we're getting some better touring shows after the crap from this past year.
Argh, the closest place for me is Providence.

I'll be there in Cleveland. Kinda a random tour route...

Ill see it in Cleveland. Hopefully more than once. Ill have to grab some onstage seats. :)
How is it random? This is a small show, so it makes sense that they are going to some of these cities.
I just think some of the cities seem random... I grew up in Sarasota and there was never a first year tour, I always had to go to Tampa. I didn't mean it as bad, just random.

Sarasota has been actually growing as a market to attract smaller first nationals. It began a few years ago when they got the first natl of Altar Boyz.
When I was in Sarasota 12+ years ago Van Wezel was non-Equity hell. I'm glad things are changing. They have always been good at gettings Stars, and dance companies. I know Sarasota has changed and grown alot since I left.
I've played the Purple Cow (Van Wezel) in Sarasota with 2 Equity 1st Nationals in the past several years.

If you want a show to come to your area, the best thing to do is call the presenters in your area and tell them to BOOK the show. :)

How is the tour doing? I LOVED the show when I saw it in previews, when it was still small and humble, but then as its popularity grew, it just became a parody of itself. I saw a video of Elizabeth Stanley -who I loved in Company-performing one of the songs (Suddenly?) on a morning talk show, and she kind of sucked. Has anyone seen it on tour? Is it worth a 4-hour drive to Orlando?

That's what this show is. A parody.

No sh*t. Thanks.
I meant that it seemed to me like the show was trying too hard to be campy halfway through the run.

Why thank you dumbass. There is no such thing as a parody of a parody.

The tour is on hiatus at the moment, but is a lot of fun. There's a few differences from Broadway. And Elizabeth is great. Don't judge by TV performances that are usually filmed at 7 AM.

I guess its your job to be the bitter theater queen of this forum, but you didn't answer my question about the quality of the Xanadu tour. You must have been too busy thinking of that clever "the show IS a parody" comment.

I always thought that was the point. It always has been an extremely campy show. I don't understand the "parody of itself" comment either.
I think it has just the right amount of camp. . and the perfect cast. Kerry Butler always annoyed me a bit on the cast recording. . but Elizabeth Stanley is a treat in the theatre.
I've seen every major tour to come through Chicago in a long time, and I went back to Xanadu four times before it left.
It is an extremely enjoyable time. . I highly recommend going if it is near you at all.
-Jacob.
