La Jolla is definitely one of the Regional Theaters I am anticipating to visit & see a show..alongside with Alliance (Atlanta) , Steppenwolf (Chicago) & Huntington (my hometown)

Finally found a reason to spend my Christmas this year with Mom & Pop in LA.

How big is the Mandell Weis Theater? How many seats? I wonder if its as big as The Helen Hayes...If the show will be as intimate as the HH?

Didn't the COLOR PURPLE tour start in Chicago without announcing further tour dates right away, then ended up extending in Chicago, and after a few extensions began announcing further tour dates?

I believe Xanadu already has other cities lines up right after San Diego (namely San Fransisco).

Is the La Jolla stop the official launch of the tour or a pre-tour engagement. Like what the Avenue Q and Sweeney Todd tours had.

Originally Xanadu was supposed to open at the Playhouse in June, and then go to San Fransisco in August.

The show will be rehearsed in La Jolla, and then open in La Jolla, but the tour will begin in San Fransisco - similar to Avenue Q.

It won't extend, litterally. But I'd bank money that the show is BOOKED in San Diego for a few weeks longer than what they've announced so they can put those later weeks on sale once the first batch have sold well and say "extended by popular demand." It's not a real extension, it's a marketing trick. Every show does it. You can't REALLY extend any tour run because it has a due date in another city. But you can only release blocks of a booking at a time, and say its an extension.

I didn't say they'd extend litterally. I said they might have booked more weeks than what they've announced at this time. But Neddy, please do PM me. :) I'm intrigued, and would be far from bored. :)

They can't extend. There is a much more complicated answer I can give you as to why they can't extend. I would be happy to share it, I just thought that you guys would be bored by it.
