Does anyone know if you can request to have a specific seat on stage (ie getting to eat popcorn with Mary and Jackie)?
I was able to when I went.
Just get there early.
it was my first time and we were first in line and requested good seats and they gave it to us. They are amazing ppl at Xanadu! HUZZAH!
Yeah just get there early and they'll try to accommodate requests. Keep in mind though they reserve the right to move you if necessary. For example, I requested a popcorn seat when I went, but it was a two-seater. They said I could sit there, but to be prepared to move if they needed to sit two people together. Luckily they found someone to take the single seat - thanks J!
I've seen Xanadu before but I'll be sitting on the stage for the first time later this month. A friend of mine is coming to visit from Alabama and we're having a "Broadway weekend". She's never seen Xanadu before and has only seen two Broadway shows in her life. I want her to have a special time at all the shows we're seeing. Would you guys recommend that I request particular onstage seats? Popcorn seats? End seats?
The popcorn seats are nice because you get popcorn from Mary! But the side seats might offer you a slightly better onstage view.
Thanks. My tickets say seats 1&2 and I didn't even realize you could request particular seats until I read this thread.
I've sat on the sides and in the popcorn seats (they all say like 1, 2, etc.), and I definitely enjoyed the side seats more. Seemed like you could a) see more of the whole show, b) have some fun little exchanges with some of the cast as they go off and during the show, and c) the popcorn was pretty stale anyway.
Is it scary or exhilarating to be sitting on stage? I'd have to imagine that it's a little bit of both.
I love it. :) They do put the fear of the gods into you about electroincs being OFF, and that you absolutely positively cannot go to the bathroom once you're up there, but I loved it. You can watch other people come in (and celeb spot if they're in the audience...Whoopi was once when I saw it from on stage). I really never thought about it being scary. :)
Oh...just don't put your glowstick on the speakers. I think they tell you about that now, but... I was in the front of the side section once with two friends and we'd put them there (this was before them telling you not to...and probably the reason they do now). Curtis was on for Cheyenne, and he rammed into the wall, knocking all three of them off. Thankfully only one broke, but our faces registered utter shock that it happened for a few seconds. And all the actors knew SOMEthing had happened. It was funny in retrospect. But at the time... A great memory!!
Well, I always turn off my phone so that's not a worry. And I'm pretty sure I can make it 90 minutes without running to the bathroom lol.
I'm really looking forward to seeing it onstage and getting a whole new perspective on things. I'm picking my friend up at the train station on my way home from work not this Friday but next and it's going to be a blast.

Can you pre-purchase on stage seats or do you have to go to the box office the day of the show you want to see?
They can be purchased in advance.
Eria ~ me too. It was just funny they were SOOO ""Now, you cannot leave the stage once you're up there..." I finally looked at the woman and said "I'm a teacher." (There can be LONG periods of time where you can't go doing that.) She said "Oh, enough said!" and led me right up on stage.
That's pretty funny, Jordangirl. What do you teach?
I think I'll do on stage seating for this Wednesday, since it's going to be one of the "Boys Night at Xanadu"...is that what they call an oxymoran? I'm excited about seeing the guy who is playing Sonny while Cheyenne is playing baseball.

That's pretty cool. My sister went to a school for children with special needs here in NJ. So I can really imagine what a day is like for you.

What is the Boyz night at Xanadu?

Gator, you'll love Curtis as Sonny. Completely different take on the role than Cheyenne (although I prefer Chey).
There's this social website that puts together "Boys Night at Xanadu" every other Wednesday i think. I'm not sure if I can post the link so PM me or just search boys night at xanadu. Anyways, they have a special offer where for like $69 you get a ticket to the show and entry into an after party at a Bar nearby.Cheyenne and one of the other guys in the cast were at the after party and you can talk to them, take pics etc. They've also done boys night at “Fuerzabruta" (sp?). The house isn't completely gay guys though....probably just more than usual (if that's possible). I don't think you can do the on stage seating though through the boys night thing.
whoops! I just found out that the boys night is not until 7/16...just FYI. Didn't want to be putting out inaccurate info.
how early should we get there to sit in the "popcorn" seat for a saturday mat?
I don't know about a Saturday matinee, but I always try to be there early for an evening show. As close after 6 as I can make it. It may be a bit excessive, but I just take a book and read.
