I asked this in another thread, maybe I will have more luck here....
Doesn't Jane K. have a commitment to 30 Rock?

This is the best Broadway news I've heard in a long time. I'm a HUGE fan of the movie for all its flaws (Olivia Newton John never looked better) and it's sublime soundtrack, every lyric of which I memorized at the age of 10. So all you haters can bite me.
Didn't the reading get some positive buzz? I believe it did.
HOORAY FOR XANADU! LONG MAY IT RUN!

I am not sure what the filming schedule for 30 Rock looks like but IF the show is still on the air, there is a chance that Krakowski would have been finished taping her scenes for season one by May which would explain why the producers decided to bring the show to Broadway right on that month. I really do not see the show opening on Broadway without a star of Krakowski's caliber.
According to the playbill article reporting the news, industry insiders say that both Krakowski and Cheyenne Jackson are likely to reprise the roles they played in the second staged reading.

The Tony deadline (I believe) is May 9 this year.
Television shows tend to finish taping in mid-March/early April. If Krakowski is intending to star (which would explain her appearance at nearly every opening night in the past 2-3 weeks), she'll have been long done with 30 Rock.

Posted: 12/15/06 at 5:10pm30 Rock was just picked up for a full season as of December 1st, since their move to a new time on Thursday night (which I think is dumb; they'll never conquer Grey's Anatomy...GO SARA!)

Now that they are going on without Jane, I'm a little worried. I think that the show it's self stands a chance, I'm watching the movie right now and there is stuff in there that has potential.
I want Kristen Bell for Kira, now. She isn't as big as a star as Jane theater wise, but she does have a fallowing.
