While I didn't find Derek to be that great of a vocalist---he always sounded forced and tight---I did feel bad for him. He had the misfortune of fracking really horribly that one night, and then they replayed the clip over and over every week thereafter. They tried to build up all this drama and suspense: "Will Derek FRACK AGAIN?" I mean, jeez---he's human, cut him some slack. Everyone's voice cracks at some point.
Of course I hope this show does well. It sounds very interesting and I like Derek, but this quote from their site made me laugh out loud:
"I laughed. I cried. It was better than Cats."

Not really saying much I must say.
I was just checking out the website today as well and laughed at all of the shout outs about the show too. This one was my favorite only because it's from the former CEO of Weight Watchers. WTF?
"A Tale of Two Cities is an amazing piece, with the potential to be a Top 10 Broadway show of all time. You are simply powerless in the wake of its emotionally charged story line and incredibly moving music. Truly a great story, well told. "

What are Austin and Kate doing?
The Weight Watchers CFO is also a producer and a significant investor in the show. so i don't think her opinions about the potential for the show can be mere hyperbole. i guess you could say she's putting her money where her mouth is!

I felt bad for Derek too. The funny thing was in one of the behind the scenes videos on NBC.com he said that if anyone messed up during the show it would be played over and over again. Poor thing didn't realize it was going to be him.
Austin and Kate are doing a show called Tully (In No Particular Order) at the New York Musical Theater Festival.
For those of you who wanted an offical release here ya go!
The article gives a little credance to earlier wonderings that perhaps Derek got his wrist slapped for posting his blog.
