Here is my list (in no particular order). Since I only get to NYC once a year, my list is heavy on regional theatre offerings.
Company--Though I know opinions were mixed, I loved the show and Raul's performance as Bobby.
dark plays or stories for boys--The highlight for me at the Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch--Though I had seen the movie, I'd never seen the show live until Actors Theatre of Louisville mounted a production this season.
The Santaland Diaries--I'm a huge Sedaris fan and Actors Theatre's production didn't disappoint.
The Color Purple (1st National Tour Chicago)--I loved it as much on tour as I did on Broadway. Felicia P. Fields was great and Jeannette Bayardelle as Celie was a revelation.
Mary's Wedding--Yet another offering from Actors Theatre of Louisville. A moving two-hander that resonates long after the final curtain.
Twelve Angry Men (National Tour)--Richard Thomas gives a wonderful performance as Juror #8. A tense and riveting 90 minutes.
The Wedding Singer (National Tour)--I know opinions were mixed on this show, but the touring cast is loaded with talent and energy.
A Tuna Christmas (Tour)--You haven't been to Tuna, Texas unless you've seen Jaston Williams and Joe Sears bring the citizens of Tuna to life.
Irving Berlin's White Christmas (Local dinner theatre)--I saw the first mounting of the show at The Muny in 2000 with Karen Mason and Howard Keel. Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville, Indiana did a great job with it.
