Yesterday's matinee of ANNIE

My granddaughter and I "double dated" with a buddy and his 6 year old daughter. We took the girls to lunch at Juniors and then a matinee of ANNIE. We were all disappointed that Faith Prince was out and the role of Miss Hannigan was to be played by Danette Holden. For the first few minutes that Hannigan was on stage, I thought the performance was going down the drain: Holden seemed to lack stage presence and laughs were missing their marks left and right. However, once she launched into "Little Girls" Holden proved to be a powerhouse singer and belted her two numbers right out of the ballpark. This was just another time when I felt a sound system wasn't needed.

I also Danette Holden. I thought she was wonderful.
