Okay, so I went. And for the love of God, people, Broadway isn't *that* desperate! LOL.
"You Don't Know Jack" is based on the "true story" of the "Jack & Jill" nursery rhyme.
It starred Kevin Kern (Jack), Felicia Finley (Jill), Ann Harada (Bo Peep), and Christian Anderson (Georgy Porgy).
And it's absolutely hysterical.
The cast blends so well together, both vocally and acting-wise. It's smart, funny, romantic, and sexy-as-hell. There were moments that I laughed so hard, I would miss the next line! The music is definitely memorable, and there are lines that I'm still quoting the next day. And although it was only a read-through, I don't see much that needs to be changed in the story or the scenes. It runs about 2.5 hours, but it's never boring or stretched-out. I think they might have themselves a hit on their hands, and I can't wait to see if it makes it!
"What came first - the music or the misery? Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable, or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?" - Rob Gordon, "High Fidelity"
