Do you think it would be a good idea to see the movie before seeing the play or would it be better to see the play first and then the movie?
Just wondering what those of you who have seen both thought. Thanks.
Most definitely see the show first. Watching the film prior will completely ruin the show. I personally didn't enjoy the show due mostly because the show uses the same jokes from the film, so I didn't find anything new or fresh aside from the lame songs inserted.
Seeing YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN should be limited to an either/or scenario. Either watch the original film or the Broadway musical version -- but not both.
That's my 2 cents.
I say see the movie first. Yes, the show does use the same jokes from the movie. I saw the show first and then bought the DVD. Some of the jokes just don't make sense unless you saw the movie such as the horses in the beginning and the hermit scene.
That's my feeling. Regardless, I enjoyed the show even without seeing the film first.
Well I didn't get a chance to see the film because my parents suprised me with a ticket for the show Sunday. Anyway, I absolutely loved it and can't wait to rent the movie.
1. Your parents rock!
2. Now you should see the movie. Madeline Kahn's take on Elizabeth is COMPLETELY different than Megan Mullaly's. Much funnier, if you ask me. Hope you enjoy the flick.
Young Frankenstein: You Gotta Have Heart
Yes, watch the film first. There are a million one liners (not all used in the stage show) that are some of the funniest I've ever heard. I think it is my favorite comedy of all time. Gene Wilder, Kahn, Garr, et al are genius.
