Young Frankenstein

Posted: 3/23/07 at 12:10pmI'm a little muddled. I had heard that Kristin Chenoweth was in Young Frankenstein, and now it's Megan Mullally. (not that I have an issue with that). I was wondering, was Kristin EVER supposed to be in it?

Bad call, Kristen. We all know how that TV pilot is going to go. Only wish you and your people did also, but then again...it's probably another case of "oh, just take the money".
Any and all attempts of bringing her to television have failed. She's just not TV friendly. It's apparent that she's going to suffer the Carol Channing Syndrome -- personality TOO big for film AND television. In small supporting roles (like WEST WING, and RUNNING WITH SCISSORS, RV and BEWITCHED), her personality works...but to carry an entire show or film? Um, nope. Her personality is just TOO obnoxious and TOO big AND this has already been proven, so it isn't just my opinion.

her personality is toooo big. LOL
Hmmmmmm must sorta like her ego.
I wish someone would just get rid of her. She obviously does not want to broadway shows as she keeps taking TV gigs cause they pay more and get you more exposure.

"TOO obnoxious and TOO big" can also describe Rosie O'Donnell, and she is very successful.
I think Cheno's problem with Film/TV is that Cheno is ONE type. She's not versatile. She will always be the cutesy next door neighbor.
Give her a vehicle that supports her type that is well-written and she can go far. I can definitely see her being a likable character in a "neighbor" situation on a sitcom, such as Karen on WILL & GRACE, Ethel in I LOVE LUCY, Rhoda in MTMS, etc.

Posted: 3/23/07 at 1:21pmI haven't seen Megan in anything, so I am excited. I did see Kristin at the Met, and it was great. She didn't come out to sign autographs. And there actually weren't that many people waiting. It kind of made me mad. But whatever I still like her anyway

Then again...if YF follows the steps of Producers, Mel Brooks can always opt to bring in CK or another Broadway friendly "star" to refresh the show in 12 mos.
Kristin is smart...and she knows how to butter her bread now... and in the future.
