You'd be surprised. Ticket brokers are regularly selling Jersey Boys tickets for more than that and are making a killing, not including premium seats. Even "non-hit" shows can go for upwards of 250 dollars for good seats. Some tourists just don't know any better.

There are always pay day loans. Though they're usually for rent or a new car.

Basically, I think this is all part of their plan.

For example, a couple will end up paying over 1000 dollars for two tickets to see this. At that point, even if the show is terrible they'll pretend to like it just to appease their other half.

I'd just like to say that the prices for tickets haven't been confirmed yet. This is all just a rumor, nothing more. The only prices that have been confirmed are the out of town tryouts, and besides if the premium price is $450 or more and it's the first couple of rows in the orchestra, then buy a ticket in the mezzanine or further back. Me personally, I really don't care where I sit as long as I get a ticket.

You can only include the first act of Grey Gardens in that category. The second act is pure movie musical.

I don't know about $500, but some people (who belong in the average theatre-goer category) I know would pay $300. While they're well-off, I wouldn't consider them rich. These are people only go to Broadway once every few years to see a big name show like Wicked. They don't go to the theatre that much, so it would make sense to splurge when they do go.

Broadway fans wouldn't do that, though, unless they're rich. They'd have to sell their organs if they paid $500 for every show they saw. :P
