Does anyone know how the Igor is now that Christopher is gone??
I saw the original cast minus Megan, since she was on vacation, and I think that the reason I enjoyed it was because of the cast... and now that they are all different, im not sure if i would like it... especially since Chris was SPOT ON with Igor, he stole the show and took up the slack from roger bart who was not that great

well until you saw Chris you might not want to say that
I mean Roger was not that great.. very boring
but Chris was the PERFECT Igor... better than the movie Igor

I'm going tommorow, so I'll see the new Igor. I'm sure he's good, but I'm such a huge fan of Chris, I don't know how I'm going to like Cory English.

Jon Patrick Walker was on for Roger, after hearing Roger on the recording I was glad. I preferred Jon's voice.
Brian Shepard was on for Chris. Though I can't compare the two I loved Brian and he had me laughing throughout the show. He played a great Igor. He also sounded similar to Chris.

Posted: 12/6/08 at 10:11pmI just got back from seeing Young Frankenstein with the new Igor. He was pretty good, but he didn't have the chemistry with Roger that Chris did.

Posted: 12/6/08 at 10:18pmYoung Frankenstein isn't even close to being as criminal to some recent Broadway disasters (Cry-Baby, High Fidelity, Good Vibrations, etc). While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it has its joys (a wonderful cast, some inspired choreography, more than a few jaunty tunes). I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the hatred over YF has more to do with management than quality.

Posted: 12/7/08 at 1:22amI agree with Mildred. Mel Brooks was verry verry verry extremely happy and confident of his new show opening. Is it wrong to hate on a show because the producer and creator loves it alot? I mean we didn't trash Elton John for opening Billy Elliot

Posted: 12/7/08 at 3:13amI'm glad that Linda Muggleston will be the final Frau Blucher, she is an amazing person and performer and deserves the exposure. She also replaced Vanessa Williams for the last two weeks of the Into the Woods revival, so this is starting to become a cottage industry for her.

I saw her in for Andrea Martin in April.
She was really good. In fact, she was the best part of the trainwreck show that night.

Posted: 12/7/08 at 2:15pmI only saw YF once, but I really enjoy it, and the recording always makes me smile when I listen to it. I will miss this show!

I really have trouble with the "train wreck" analysis of this particular show. I think it is a faithful expansion of one of the funniest, and one of my favorite, films ever made.
It was to me what Spamalot is to Monty Python fans. Personally, I loathe Monty Python. Not my cup of tea. But I can see why a Python fan would adore it. It gives them what they want.
And YF gave its fans what they want. All of the songs flow naturally from the book. Songs like "He Was My Boyfriend" and "Deep Love" are dirty fun. It's a harmless musical comedy out for laughs.
Again, there were more criminal things on Broadway last season (Glory Days, The Little Mermaid, Cry Baby). Brooks, like him or not, sharpened his comedy skills on Broadway. He was here long before The Producers (I actually prefer YF to it) came along.
As a fan of pure musical comedy I appreciated YF's old-fashioned merriment. I'm not depressed about its closing, but more disappointed that the foolish choices of the producers (taking The Hilton instead of the St James, premium seating, not posting grosses, letting Brooks boast) that are the real reason behind the failure of this otherwise fine musical.
