We spent a weekend in the city & just arrived back.

Much to our surprise, we really enjoyed Young Frankenstein. It was fun & entertaining. Every aspect was first rate. The physical production was outstanding including something musicals used to have - real (not cardboard) sets. The entire cast was there except Megan who was on vacation.

Surprisingly, her role in Act 1 was almost non existant. She has more in Act 2. Igor was a riot & it is obvious the whole cast was ad libbing a lot. At the end, Roger Bart made his aids speech & said we are taking up a collection for Bear Sterns . It got a big laugh. We heartily recommend it (YF)to all.

We stayed at the W Hotel . It was OK . Good but not worth the money they charged. The location was good . On the way back to the hotel from the theater, I saw Meehan walk by but did not think to say anything to him. Going out for the paper Saturday night, I saw Frances MacDormand walking on the street & James Lipton coming out of November

We ate @ Nobu 57 which was out of sight good. This morning we had a buffet at Blue Fin in the Hotel. Mrs R mentioned it was her birthday & the waited threw in 2 free bellini's

A very nice weekend. So far, we like the Renaissance the best.

I'm glad you had a nice time.

How was Megan's understudy?

"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster. "Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."

"Surprisingly Good"

In some interview, Matthrew Brodderick said that's what Mel Brooks said to him after every Producers rehersal.

He's a faker, and you've been taken in by his con. And in doing so, you are enabling him. He is doing more damage to aspergers than papa's words ever could. -Chane/Liverpool on me having asperger syndrome.

So glad you enjoyed it, and especially that you enjoyed Heather Ayers as Elizabeth Benning. She's wonderful.

I saw Heather Ayers as Elizabeth on Thursday, and thought she did an incerdible job. Honestly, if the understudy slip wasn't in the Playbill and I didn't have binoculars, I never would have known it wasn't Megan. Her vocals in "Deep Love" were, in my opinion, better than Megan's. She was also extremely nice at the stage door!

Glad you liked it! I am heading up there in 2 weeks, and now that it looks like getting tickets are a reality, I think I will try and see it.

Love the W...but totally agree! Excellent about the bellini's though! I have found that a lot of the high-end Starwood hotels are way too spendy for their own good, but worth it in the long run. Got a great rate in DC this weekend to see Kiss, and had a great time. Plus, gotta love having a tv in your room that you lust after!

And Happy Birthday to Mrs. R!!!

She says thank you

We have been using the Honeymoon routine when going to Vegas so now maybe we will retire that & use this instead.

Wonder when YF will make it into Forbidden Broadway

I'm glad you had fun ! Can't wait to see it ! Roger Bart is out for the performance I'm seeing, but I don't really mind much ! Though I have to say, that if I missed Megan, I'd be devastated! How many chances can I have, of seeing my greatly beloved star of my greatly beloved show, on stage ?

And a very very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mrs. R !!!

I too enjoyed it last Tuesday.
I missed Megan and wanted to walk out when I found out she wouldn't be there. But I ended up staying and found the show phenominal. I am partial so I did not like the understudy. But the show itself was wonderful and the actors fed off the audience. They later said it was one of the best audiences they'd had. Loved Andrea and Christopher.
I can't wait to head back to NYC in June!
