I know that the producers of Young Frankenstein chose not to report their weekly grosses. I'm curious, have there been any other shows in the past that, for whatever reason, decided not to report their grosses?
The reason I ask is cause I read a blog the mentioned YF, and the author made a point of saying that he didn't approve of the producers breaking the Broadway tradition of reporting grosses. He made it seem like it was taboo, which seemed kind of weird to me.

First not posting pissed of all the other producers .Then he mentioned the 400 dollar seats before the show even previewed which got all the critics (especially riedel)hot to bash the show.. Apparently nothing compares to the producers(never saw the show but everyone keeps refering to it).Lastly everyoe thinks the show is sold out all the time but its not tues and weds have been lite . No one knows this though because they don't post.. If they had posted someone could look at the numbers and saY hay there only at 75%.i think i could get tickets..remember this is just my opinion .Joe schmo..I will say ive seen it a few times and it is worth seeing. Lastly i would never pay over normal price for any broadway show no matter how good it is..

IMHO, the reason they aren't posting is because they aren't selling. Bad news on grosses leads to declining interest amongnst the avid theatre goers. They only want to see what is considered the "in" show so that they can brag to their friends that they saw it.
I just went to see it last Friday night and there were plenty of empty seats. I was shocked. The reason being is because the show is terrific.
I was able to get 4 tickets in the mezzanine - Row B for $150 on EBay which is clearly below face. The same seller was selling quite a few seats for under face at a number of other performances. Bad for him, good for me.
