Your FAVORITE Bock and Harnick Song

I've been listening to their work and figured I'd start a thread discussing what everyone's favorite Bock and Harnick
song(s) is(are). They're two excellent songwriters that have faded into the background despite brilliant shows (She Loves Me and Fiddler on the Roof and so forth) and songs.

So here are two of mine-
"Dear Friend" from She Loves Me and "What Makes Me Love Him?" from The Apple Tree for their honestly, simplicity and beauty.

I'd love to hear what everyone else has to say!

re: Your FAVORITE Bock and Harnick Song

When I was younger I went to a lot of Bar/Bat Mitzvahs for family and friends. Thats what you get for growing up in a Jewish family. Sunrise Sunset is a song that is always played at them so much so that it has become almost cliche. A few years ago I would have said that if I heard that song one more time I would have gone postal. But, I was in the car the other day and I had the XM Broadway station on and that song came on the radio. I realized after not listing to that song for a few years that it is a very beautiful song and I look at it differently then I did four to five years ago.

"Ice Cream" from SHE LOVES ME is not only my favorite Bock and Harnick song but one of my favorite showtunes. I think it's one of the best musical comedy songs ever written.
"What Makes Me Love Him," "Feelings," and "Eve" are runner-ups. I love Act I of THE APPLE TREE.

ray - you took my answer. The music at the end of Act 1 of The Apple Tree is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.
My favorite SONG though is probably either "Far From the Home I Love" from Fiddler or "Tonight at Eight" from She Loves Me.

Best lyric is in Ilona from She Loves Me: "How I envy you each evening when work is through, for I have only me to be with, while you have you."

If I had money, I would pay to have an APPLE TREE Revival Cast Recording produced. Kristin Chenoweth's voice was made for those songs. I'm so sad that we don't have a record of her performance.

I love Tonight at Eight from She Loves Me, but both enjoy and admire Barbara Cook's OBC performance of Ice Cream from the same show. Her ability to keep singing that song and hitting those notes for decades and decades was incredible.

When Did I Fall In Love? is one of my favorite songs, especially delivered by Ellen Hanley on the OBCR.

Barbara Cook is perfection singing Ice Cream and Will He Like Me? in She Loves Me.

And I know everyone's said it, but What Makes Me Love Him? is a gem.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

re: Your FAVORITE Bock and Harnick Song

Well, I love "Little Old New York" and "Picture of Happiness" from Tenderloin, "Matchmaker" and "Miracles of Miracles" from Fiddler..., and "What Makes Me Love Him?" from The Apple Tree (completely agree with Wanna...).

BUT, my fave has to be "When Did I Fall In Love" from Fiorello! WhizzerMarvin TrinaJasonMendel, I do love her version, but I think Audra McDonald gives the best rendition (Marin Mazzie doesn't do a bad one too).

"Far From the Home I Love" from Fiddler. I find the melody haunting and always moves me. They talk about songs in a musical coming when emotions are hightened and the the character can't talk any more so has to sing. I find this scene and song really brings the heartbreak and power of her choice to leave alive.

Do You Love Me? from Fiddler. Can't listen to any version of this song without getting choked up. The Film version being my favorite.
