Hah,
I saw the non-equity tour (with Constantine as Roger) and while most of the performers were pretty good the Collins was astounding and made the rest of them look like vocally imcompitent fools. If I remember I think his name was (I kid you not) Aswad. When he did I'll Cover You - Reprise, I was front row, exact centre, a few meters from his face, and it was definitely an almost religious experience at the theatre. All the old stuffy couples that were threatening to leave at intermission just sat their with their jaws open and cheered like hell.
Akiva
Jesse, hands down
Yeah, for me, it'll always be Jesse.
In other news, though, I've seen Rent 24 times and have never actually heard a BAD "I'll Cover You (Reprise)". I almost always want to cry.

MRF. Hands down. But Jesse and Michael McElroy rank right up there. I wish I could have seen Aswad's reprise...I love his voice.
Destan is ok...I really liked him until I heard MRF who just completely blew him out of the water.
Jesse Duh!!! (I love him)
Marcus Paul James by far.. the man makes me cry everytime..
And yes Akiva, unless Marucs was out you wouldn't have seen Aswad.. I love As to death but he doesn't perform the role enough to be blow away good.. He's not bad, he's just not take my breathe away good.. As' SoL solo is amazing though.

Jesse always.
But Michael McElroy's rendition is FANTASTIC
Marcus Paul James. Love him, he's amazing. The next time he's on as Collins, I'm dropping everything and going to see it again.
Marcus Paul James. Saw him twice, once with the "Constantine" cast which I like to call "the Jaime Lee cast"...and once with the Dan/Andy/Tallia cast. Glad he's on Broadway now.
I also think Mark Richard Ford is up there with him.

Marcus, hands down. Every time I see the show it like pains me to see him just as SOLoist.
However, I've never seen a bad reprise. Even Destan's is good.
I like this guy on the current tour alot. and I liked Mark Ford's omg :)

By far, Jesse. But I really liked Destan's, it gave me major chills. Marcus was the first Collins I saw, and I don't EXACTLY remember him, but you guys are refreshing my memory....he was good :)
wow.. so who is this Marcus Paul James. was he just on tour somewhere or was he ever in the Broadway cast. he must be fierce. alot of people here have mentioned him. Also of we all love jesse but as far as "vocalists" and style are concerned he doesnt really rank up there IMO. i think he wa fantastic tho. im simpley talkin about who really sung the crystal off the chandeliers!!!!
Mark Richard Ford made me cry every time I saw him.
Definitely Mark Richard Ford
and Mark richard whoooooo? is this a tour collins or broadway collins?
Jesse of course =)
I'm gonna have to go with Jesse.
ohhhh now i know who Mark Richard Ford is. i saw him and didnt know it! i just google imaged him. anyway. NO.. not fierce IMO. i mean he was definetly decent but not amongst the I'll Cover You Reprise Gods. Mcelroy blew his rendition out of the water.
FOR MARK FANS:
Find Marks rendition below. click on multimedia when u get there.
I dont know. Just not fierce to me.
Hear Mark Richard Ford.

Marcus was on tour for a couple of years and joined the broadway cast just about a year ago as Mr Jefferson/SoL soloist and Collins undterstudy..
Mark Richard Ford was the Collins prior to Destan who is on Broadway now.
