Does My Fair Lady count?
I know they're not your typical lovey-dovey couple, but that's exactly what I like about Eliza and Prof. Higgins. Plus, the music is fantastic.

Peggy- I believe there are two musical versions of Cyrano. The best one is actually on iTunes... it stars Christopher Plummer.
The song "I Never Loved You" will break you heart!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves PASSION so much.
No one I know even knows it (until I sit them down and tell them, that is lol). It's absolutely breathtaking - both the music and the story.

Posted: 4/22/06 at 10:37amI don't know who I love listening to more do the part; Maria or Donna. The each play it in different directions and each one is beautiful. But I think I like Maria's "Loving You" more, but Donna's "Flashback" better!

Posted: 4/22/06 at 11:15amInterestingly, there are actually four prominent stage musical versions of Cyrano. Three played Broadway- the 1973 flop at the Palace starring Christopher Plummer, the 1993 version at the Neil Simon, and a very short- lived version at the end of the 19th century. Also, Maltby and Shire wrote a musical Cyrano as one of their first collaborations. In addition, Cameron Mackintosh has been quoted as saying he gets about 10 Cyrano musical scripts a month--- people are so eager to do Cyrano as a musical BUT like vampires... it's just not a feasible topic for Broadway musicalization.
