Your Ideal Broadway Season

If you could customize a Broadway season, which shows would you choose?

If only 15 different shows were to be on Broadway, all lasting 25 years, which 15 would you choose? Would you give a good variety, put in all spectacles, all classics, all contemporary?

Here's me list:

FAMILY:
-Peter Pan
-Lion King
-Wicked
-Into the Woods
-Hairspray

CLASSICS:
-Hello, Dolly
-Evita
-Phantom of the Opera
-Funny Girl

SPECTACLES:
-42nd Street
-Mamma Mia!

HISTORICAL (Hey, gotta give schools a reason to field trip to Broadway, plus the shows aren't bad neither ):
-Ragtime
-Les Miserables

COMEDY:
-Urinetown
-The Producers

I love how you have a historical category when every show you've picked is old and nostalgic.

My 'ideal' season would feature new works and more new works. I'd leave every show you've mentioned for the community theaters to handle.

Well as long as Nathan Lane is in something and let's have at least one Arthur Miller production running as he always rewards with his emotional insight.

Oh and in my IDEAL season I'd be starring in something!

I can't believe you're suggesting that in 25 years time Urinetown, Wicked, Hairspray and Mamma Mia should be running? Ten years ago these shows didn't exist. They are not classics, they are modern Broadway musicals aiming to please the target audience of the day and make money, not live forever as shining examples of wonderful theatre. Sheeesh.

It would be great to see ALL NEW WORKS in a season. New plays and new musicals supporting all of the talented people writers who's work should be seen.

I'm frickin' pissed that Urinetown frickin' closed instead of frickin' moving to a different frickin' theatre. That was the funniest show on Broadway.

What I Want to See In an Upcoming Season

-Mack & Mable (with a completely revised book)
-Merrily We Roll Along (so it can be recognized for it's sheer brilliance)
-Hello Dolly! without Carol Channing
-A Show that is Worthy of Hugh Jackman's Talent
-West Side Story (with direction and Choreography by Rob Marshall)
-The Last Five Years (in a small house, directed by Joe Calarco)
-LaChuisa's Wild Party (with direction that matched the brilliance of the book)
-A Little Night Music
-A Stage Production of Newsies- well if Disney is gonna keep putting shows on Broadway it might as well be something worthwhile.
-The Newly Revised script of 110 in the Shade
-Something with choreography by Rob Ashford

and tons of NEW WORKS by young composers and playwrights (LaChuisa, Brown, Lippa, Guettel, Tesori, etc)
