Yeah, your right: it's hard to tell when there all wearing hats and stuff, I want to meet Lori Eve like so bad, but I can NEVER ever find her when they come out the stage door. Same with Brooke, I want my picture with Noreen! :)

I agree with SNL. If you stop any of the council kids, they are usually more than willing to talk or sign for you and are very nice. They just think everyone wants the "stars" or the names in the show.

I am so gonna attempt to stake them out next time I go.
The last time I went I didnt meet many Council Kids, but I met NJGirl. :)

Clumsydude15, Im so glad you had a good time at Hairspray...I went on the 13th of January and had a great time...Kasey as Corny was my favorite thing about the show...I got to see Kasey in Godspell at the Papermill Playhouse and he was wonderful in that. I actually went to see hairspray bc I heard he was going to be in it. I believe everyone was in that night excpet Darlene Love, which I was heartbroken about until I heard Carla J. Hargrove opened her mouth. She was amazing. Shes no Darlene Love but she could definately hold her own. I also went to the stagedoor and George, Ashley S., and Tevin didn't come out...Everyone was just soo nice...I can't wait to go back again!

PlayhouseBeauty, I'm sorry you missed Darlene. She is phenomenal. However, I've seen Carla as Motormouth a few times and I love her voice. It reminds me of Esther Phillips.

There is a lottery for every performance. Student rush may be for only Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, but I'm not sure. I've never bought a student rush ticket for Hairspray. Clumsy, do you have details?

How does the lottery work? Do you have to go to the theatre 2 hours before the show? I live in NJ and will be going to NYC for an audition next week. But I'd love to catch a show if I can. I saw Miss Saigon in the front row - THAT was an amazing experience. But I just LOVE Hairspray, so I really don't care where I sit - I would just be going for the fun of seeing a live Broadway show - which is always such a treat!

I agree totally with your assessment of George. I woke up last Sunday hearing "You Can't Stop the Beat" in my head on an ongoing basis (I am so glad that the song with the original cast from the Tony Awards lives on) and my body felt the need to see the show. Since it was my understanding that George's last show was going to be the 20th and I had not seen him, and not knowing how much longer Ashley PA was going to be with the show, I raced to the show and it was exactly what I needed to lift me up high.
George was exactly as described, probably physically LOOKED the most hilarious of all the Ednas, but was a bit smaller in stature, probably due to the lack of physical energy in moving about and dancing. Ashley Parker Angel has grown incredibly, both voice and dancing (his dancing second only to Matthew Morrison). Is there a definite last date for him in March?

Which begs the question, is George leaving imminently, and have they cast a new Edna? My understanding is that he was there only for a limited run. Hope they reach high and nail a great Edna.

George has come out and signed autographs every time I've seen him in the show; maybe he just took a while to come out when you were there.

SNLMedia: The student rush tickets are all non-purchased mezzanine seats and are sold day of performance at the box office, my friend clued me in and told me about it via text before I go there: But I believe its for all performances.

NeddyFrank: I don't heart all shows. I dislike Hair very much and I'm not a huge fan of Brooklyn other than Eden and some of it's music, and I am not a fan of a few other shows. :)

Tinkerscan ~ I think it's 3 hours before and they draw 2 1/2 hours before. Because I've attempted Hairspray and then run over and attempted Wicked.

I just wanted to chime in...

Kasey is a FANTASTIC Corny.. by far one of the best.

Clarke's first day back was GREAT. It's like he never left... incomparable.

Ashley Angel's last day IS set in stone, but it isn't being released yet. There are MAJOR changes in store at the Neil Simon in the new few months.. that's all that can be said. When stuff is able to be told, you will find at ALL on Be-Sprayed.... the new Hairspray message board. Stop in, check it out, sign up and post!
