Have a chance to see a good regional production of Talley's Folly. Based on a summary and review I read of the play, it looks like it has the potential to be interesting. Would love to hear from anyone who's seen it whether you'd recommend it and why. Just looking for your take on the material. Thanks!

It's a very sweet, satisfying play.
Lanford Wilson has written much, much better plays, though.

Posted: 3/26/14 at 5:17pmI am a BIG Lanford Wilson fan. As for the three Talley family plays, I much prefer Fifth of July (which has a decent filmed-for-PBS DVD out there,) but Folly is charming and sweet. Granted, those aren't really the qualities I like best in his plays... It's a two actor piece, so if you have strong actors with good chemistry, I would recommend it.

It's definitely an actor's piece. I think it's really heart warming and poignant, but definitely needs two extremely strong actors with great chemistry. It's the kind of show that won't play itself. That being said, check it out...if only to get an exposure to the play!
