I hope it happens. I have heard that JT was offered the role but that the deal fell through.
Hope John is Zanna sooner then later. He would be perfect.
I loved Zanna Don't.
Heard it was changed to Zanna.
Tim Acito is about as sweet as they come. Great guy.
Hope Zanna is on Broadway soon.

Posted: 1/30/05 at 12:39amYes it was rumored for the end of the season but honestly it would have trouble finding a theatre at this point [although it seems the Plymouth, among others, might be free soon]. Eric Schaeffer, artistic director of the Signature Theatre in Virginia and recent director of "Under the Bridge" off-broadway is the planned director for the project, and recently the Signature Theatre company got zealous enough to auction off tickets for the "Broadway production of ZANNA, starring John Tartaglia". The auction was quickly pulled as that isn't exactly public knowledge yet.

oh, that crazy signature theatre...
but ive seen a few GREAT shows there! a good friend of mine was louise in gypsy a few years back...

Posted: 1/30/05 at 12:47amYes, the Signature Theatre is quite crazy -- but you REALLY have to hand it to them. They are so bold and daring -- they dare to be different in an area where that isn't all right. [And contrary to popular opinion, I thought "The Highest Yellow" was one of the most richly rewarding and beautiful shows I've seen in quite some time]. Their current show, "Fallen From Proust" seems to just be a glorified sitcom in my opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing their take on "Pacific Overtures" in the spring.

Other theatres here (including olney, toby's, etc) really don't "go outside the box, so to speak...

Posted: 1/30/05 at 1:09amwhen i saw avenue q on jan 20, my friend and i asked john about zanna. he said that he knows he is their number one choice for the role and if anything happens it would be in august sometimes...i really REALLY hope he does it...he is the only actor that i would accept being zanna if jai didnt do it! so hopefully we can see him in august-ish!

No. Jai is here right now. He has a one man show on Monday.
I think that Jai and John work well together. They had so much chemistry at the Drama Desk when Jai kissed Rod.

Posted: 1/30/05 at 11:45amrumtumtugger, why would you think he was on tour? Jai hasn't 'been on tour' with Rent since he was in the Canadian cast in '97-'98. Besides, the only tour of Rent that's been on for the past 3+ years has been non-eq which he obviously couldn't be a part of. :)
