Sorry if this is a dumb question but: is the German recording in German or is it just the German cast singing the English words?

All productions use the native language of that country.

Thanks Lizzie. That is what I initially assumed but then I thought it might be difficult to translate the songs into each language will keeping the tempo/rythm/and some sort of rhyme scheme to the songs.

Well, some of the translations aren't so great. re: a Les Mis weekend Ask any native Spanish speaker about the original Madrid cast recording, or a native German speaker about the original Vienna recording. They're reportedly pretty dire.

re: a Les Mis weekend I have the French concept and Paris cast, the German cast, the OLC, OBC, 10th Anniversary, CSR and the Manchster CDs... Two studio recordings, too.

Now I want to listen to them all LOL re: a Les Mis weekend
