You're 100% right, Pajama. The director of the TV GYPSY was dying as he worked on the project. The poor man probably didn't have the strength in him to help Bette mold a performance.

If only we could have Roz Russell's Mama Rose with Bette's vocalizing!

Lainie Kazan has a beautiful voice. I've never seen her perform live, but I have seen her perform on tv and she can bring tears to your eyes in a good way.
