acting classes, really good ones
#0acting classes, really good ones
Posted: 10/15/06 at 11:14amI'm just posting this for any people on here that want really high quality acting training, while starting in thew winter i'll most likely be attending the Strasberg School, I definetly have to say that the Teen Studio Theatre Institute is amazing. Since I was 7 i worked with the acting coach there, and then she moved to manhattan and I didn't here from her for a few years. But then last year she called me back and said she had a new program. I cannot stress enough the amount of ability is has made me realize I had. All the teachers are very well established and accomplished, and the styles of learning are more individually designed than any other school I've seen. The website is www.youththeatreinstitutes.org I highly reccomend this class for any future Broadway actors that want to be able to completely highlight their personal strengths, and work on some of their weaknesses. I was one of the original students there and since then did 2 more sessions (8 weeks sessions) since then. I know of at least 2 other people on this website who have attended it and I urge you to do the same.

Posted: 10/15/06 at 12:14pmumm, kind of a mixed bunch, but not in a confusng way, they give a little bit of each depending on what works for that actor in that situation. most of the time they teach strasberg, because it is the most challenging and most resourceful

Posted: 10/15/06 at 12:15pmEw. Strasberg. *coughmeisnercough*

Posted: 10/15/06 at 12:17pmwell they teach that to, but most of the time they teach strasberg, but they are very into personalizing things so if you wanted to learn meisner they would probably have no prob with it.... seriously you don't like strasberg? i love that method, it makes it so much easier to project emotions, but to each his own

Posted: 10/15/06 at 12:20pmYeah. I really don't like Strasburg. It just doesn't work for me.

Posted: 10/15/06 at 12:22pmYeah, I'm a Meisner junkie myself. The thing about Meisner is that you have to have a teacher who knows Meisner exeptionally well otherwise it's kind of useless and easy to screw up.

Posted: 10/15/06 at 12:23pmhi lily :) i'm right about the mixing up and personalizing of tsti, am i not?

Posted: 10/15/06 at 12:25pmUmmmmm, not so much, at least I don't think so. The really incredible part of the program is the summer program which has excellent Meisner training. It's called Summer Theatre Institute. TSTI's acting isn't that wonderful, but the singing and movement training both are.
