What is an actors fund performance? What do they do? Do they perform the entire show?

At an actors fund performance they perform the whole show and nothing is different except for that the show is usually on a night that the show is dark. The only difference is that the money made goes to the Actors Fund.

Great way to see a show and support this wonderful organization at the same time.

In addition, there are sometimes special events where a one-time performance is done in more of a concert setting. In the past, they've done Funny Girl, Hair, and Dreamgirls.

Also in an actors fund performance the salaries are donated to the fund from just about everyone in the theater with some exceptions.

AND...the audience more often than not consists of cast members from other shows who haven't yet had a chance to see this one. It gives the performance a real "community" feeling.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
