aladdin and snow white
re: aladdin and snow white#2
Posted: 8/10/04 at 9:00pmPLEASE say you're kidding. I don't think I can handle more Disney on Broadway (except Tarzan, if it really does have Adam Pascal and Matt Morrison!!)
re: aladdin and snow white#3
Posted: 8/10/04 at 9:00pmWell, the Little Mermaid is supposed to be coming....
re: aladdin and snow white#4
Posted: 8/10/04 at 9:52pmUhm, sources?
re: aladdin and snow white#5
Posted: 8/10/04 at 10:05pmi'll tell you the truth... before lion king came to broadway, i saw these 2 as being strong possibilities... aladdin probably needing a lot more work for all of the special effects it would have... but yeah, i agree... even though i'm a huge disney fan (sorry everyone), i think too many are starting to make their way over.

Posted: 8/10/04 at 10:14pmI'm still hoping for The Little Mermaid. Aladin would probably be really adorable. Personally Tarzan just doesn't do it for me. Those newer Disney movies just aren't the same.

Disney did some great things for Broadway, but...
The Little Mermaid?
Alladin?
Snow White?
I mean, come on... It *might* go over--at least TLM and Alladin... But Snow White? I don't know... I've never seen Beauty & the Beast or The Lion King, but I did see Aida...
I don't really know where I'm going with all of this except that... I don't know if they'll fly.
(hah, fly? alladin? whatever.)
re: aladdin and snow white#8
Posted: 8/10/04 at 10:46pmi really think snow white is possible... it really doesn't have extensive special effects... but i remember seeing something on the disney channel a few months ago about a staged version... but thats probably in 1 of the parks... but it looked like they put alot into it.. particularly the magic mirror... it looked cool... kinda along the lines of the wizard's head in wicked i think... it's been a while since i saw the promo/commercial for it, so i don't remember exactly.
re: aladdin and snow white#9
Posted: 8/10/04 at 10:49pmDoes Aida really count as a Disney show? I mean, it's not typical Disney and it hasn't been made as a movie... I don't know.
re: aladdin and snow white#10
Posted: 8/10/04 at 10:52pmi think Aladdin would be a pretty cool show to see on broadway with all the special effects it's bound to have. sure the storyline is known by everyone and the songs (A whole new world) but it would be fun to see. plus, as long as they get a hot guy to play aladdin i'll be fine, since he IS practically shirtless the whole time...well, with an open vest, but still...

Well, hmm... AIDA was produced by Disney, right? So it counts for me.

just give me a pair of skimpy pants and damn i'm in. i'm a swimmer, so i got the hot bod.
but I'm surprised Aladdin hasn't been a broadway show yet. It has all the necessary elements (love story, villain, hero..etc). and it oculd have a very interesting set, with the village and the palace and ooh...just think! the magic carpet ride...that'd be fun, and a bit scary.
but if you can make soemone fly on a broomstick, i'm sure you could do a carpet too.

Posted: 8/11/04 at 1:19am"Forbidden Broadway" has it right... Disney is little by little trying to take over Broadway!!!

This is 100% false.
TARZAN is coming next, then LITTLE MERMAID & MARY POPPINS.
ALADDIN and SNOW WHITE were musicals at the Disney California Adventure theme park. These could have been testing shows for Broadway, but they are definitely NOT planned for New York at the moment.

Posted: 8/11/04 at 1:30amI personally dont have a problem with this. I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast(I was 7 when I saw it but still). I thought Lion King was very imaginative. Mary Poppins was one of my favorite movies when I was little, so I am really excited for that. I would love to see Aladin on Broadway. The visual aspects alone would be amazing(sets, costumes, effects).

if they closed Beauty and the Beast and replaced it with one of these, I would be ok with that. Just no more than 1 disney musical at a time. But seriously, for any of you born around 1985 like myself...aren't you secretly really thrilled?? I mean, girls especially...I worshipped Ariel for a good 3 years. I would see it just to bring back a little bit of that childhood bliss. Memories- rollerskating in my laundry toom to the little mermaid cassette...
