my school is supposed to be doing grease in the spring....we (im close to the production) were told today that we may not be able to get the rights because its going on tour in 2005. is that true?

a certain version (the revival version) is unavailable, I believe. You can still do the original version, as my theatre group is *supposed* to be putting it on.

I don't think the revival version is available to be performed by ametuer productions, unless you add songs/dialogue yourself, and "Create" the newer- Grease.

What's wrong with the original GREASE?
It only ran for OVER 3,000 performances on Broadway--more than MY FAIR LADY, OKLAHOMA!, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, etc., etc.
I don't think the revival version is available and adding/cutting songs and or dialogue without permission is illegal.

I saw a production last summer that included the new songs that are in the revival. It said right in the program that the show was put on in arrangement with Samual French Publishing yada yada yada. Maybe they added the music in, but I doubt they would have. But who knows? lol
