it doesn't get much worse than Reuben Studdard (sp?) over-riffing "You'll Never Walk Alone". It's on Fox right now.

Posted: 11/24/04 at 10:09pmI just watched like the whole thing. It wasn't good. Their voices are over-produced. Not to mention they weren't that great anyway!

They need to rename it American Riff......
Could Rueben breath in the middle of more words???

Bad phrasing bothers to me to the highest extreme.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

There are two american idol people i LOVE, and three i like:
like: clay, fantasia, justin guarini
LOVE: Kelly Clarkson (while it sometimes sounds like it hurts, she can belt frickin' high, and she's so cute) and Jennifer Hudson (no one sings like her, and her passion is palpable...I adore her).

I love Kelly Clarkson. I am def. getting her cd next week. Is Jennifer Hudson coming out with a cd? I do like Clay's voice though even though fans (like my mom) get on my nerves. LOL

jen hudson doesnt have any plans for a CD to come out. I'd love to hear something from her, though!
i'm hoping I get to see her in a Bway show before a CD comes out...perhaps the Dreamgirls revival???

Posted: 11/25/04 at 2:41pmI like Clay and I like the show, bur I hate most of the singers who come out of it. Why are the voters so stupid sometimes? (Jennifer Hudson=Should-be American Idol)

I'm a big Clay fan, but not one of the psycho ones lol.
Voice wise, I was a big fan of LaToya and Jenn, but can not stand Fantasia for some reason. Meh

Posted: 11/25/04 at 3:23pmRuben did do a little too much riffing last night and Kelly sounds like she's in pain most of the time. The highlight was the duet with Kelly and Fantasia. I knew Fantasia was from the church but I didn't know Kelly had "the spirit" in her!

Fantasia is just fabulous. And I do like her new CD.
But my favorite out of all the IDOLS is Clay. The voice! The talent! The closet case. Okay maybe that is me just wishful thinking.

Posted: 11/25/04 at 3:46pmI heard the duet between Ruben and Fantasia and Ruben sounded really good. **props to Ruben**. Fantasia, on the other hand did nothing but SCREAM almost the entire song. I thought her vocal chords were going to pop out of her throat. ICK!

Posted: 11/27/04 at 7:43pmI was at the taping of this special and Kelly blew the other two out of the water. The girl can freakin' SANG. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but she raised the key of "Breakaway" for this live performance and either in that song or "Since You've Been Gone" she belted an F fabulously. All I could think of was that she could make a possibly great Elphaba. And if anyone is going to blast me, fine. But, after hearing her live, I truly think she would be great.

Kelly Clarkson was my idol. No joke.
I watched that show religiously during the first season. Kelly was so damn good. She really deserved to win it. I love her solo stuff too.
As for Tamyra being a great actress, have you actually seen Bombay Dreams? If you do, pay attention to her "Hindi" accent. It's amazing.
She does have a lovely voice when she's not having an identity crisis.
As for Kelly being an amazing Elphaba, I think it would be thrilling to hear her sing some of the songs, but I do not think she is enough of an actress for Broadway.
As for Barry Manilow Jr., I love his voice, but he's such a dork. He's totally unbelievable. "Invisible" is extremely creepy as well.
