So the news you've all been waiting for.... Cabaret is continuing its tour!!!
After the 2nd leg of the tour finishes in July, the tour takes a 2 month break before going back out on the road in October for its 3rd leg, dates are booked for a further 6 months, venues to follow shortly.
Just what you all wanted to hear eh!!?? It seems our Billy is getting his moneys worth out of this production!
nothing as of yet, but the extension of the tour hasn't been oficially announced yet. I'll be seeing Wayne later this week probably so i'll ask him whether he's continuing or not.
But I reckon they may change it. personally i'd like the roles to be given to 'non names'... fat chance of that however!
I loved this production when I saw it in london with the original cast, thought Anna Maxwell Martin was stunning, and despite my reservations though James Dreyfus was very good too as were the rest of the cast
Saw it again as the Lowry this week, the few changes don't particularly do any harm, i really liked the revamped Mein Herr staging and though that Tomorrow Belongs to Me actually works better then the original version, the toned down nudity isn't a problem but i do admit to missing the naked sailor, lol.
The cast were good generally, and i really liked Sam, she brings an interesting Sophie Ellis Bextor ish quality to the role.
But Wayne!! absolutely dire, i know due to the part there is a certain amount of room for direct addressing the audience but he was shameless, acting like most of the people were only there to see him. And sadly going of the applause it appears they were.
Only the strength of the show and the production stopped him from completely sinking the whole lot.
He should be banned from the stage, maybe we should petition the goverment to create some kind of musical theatre asbo?
