I knew about the LITP wedding, but it's not a full blown scene, which why I did not mention it, although I do agree it is effecitively staged. But TWIW, having it all pointing upstage instead of down, worked far more effectively than wedding SCENES, such as in Mamma Mia!
you are confusing the American revolution with the French and Indian war I believe.

Yes, another reason that entire song bugs me. That one verse was just an example. She still thinks he's the Angel of Music at this point.
Horton: Are you referring to me? I know for a fact that the American Revolution did not involve any fighting in ditches.

"For that matter, I'm also annoyed with how ALW actually wrote Don Juan which is supposed to be this amazingly awesome opera, and just made it consist of earlier melodies from the show and one ridiculously symbolic pop duet. "
Agreed on the pop duet. It's ridiculous. As for the opera, it's meant to be a dreadful mess, which is kind of sad. Guy's lived under the opera for twenty years or whatever, he put it all into one score, and it's awful. Should have spent more time writing and less time jumping out of shadows and going "boogity boogity" at chorus girls.
Re. Fiyero's tattoos: I seem to recall an interview with Norbert Leo Butz where he said he had the tattoos at the beginning of preview. Apparently they looked great from the first few rows, but from everywhere else in the theatre it looked like he was bruised. So they were scrapped.
So, on to the things that annoyed me. I got really irritated every time they broke into Italian in Light in the Piazza. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was just one or two Italian sentences, but it was a large chunk of the show. And if I'm going to see a show, I want to at least have a chance at understanding it all.
The made up words in Wicked, like "congratulotions," etc. They're just so cheesy and seem to be bunged in there for no good reason.
a new one inspired by tonights visit to The Apple Tree:
when a show makes no effort to conceal the activities happening in the wings. it ruined certain "special effects"
Another thing I hate is when a character doesn't say "bye" when finishing a phone conversation.
I never noticed and/or thought about that until last night when I was watching this week's episode of Gilmore Girls. Lorelai & Rory didn't say "bye" at then end of a phone conversation and I was like, huh that is kind of weird. But then again, no one in real life speaks the way they speak on that show.
Regarding the present thing (just lifting the lid vs. taking off the paper)... my mom always just wrapped the lid of those types of boxes so she could reuse them the following Christmas, birthday, etc. I swear she'd reuse the same boxes for years in a row. I've inherited that urge to recycle and it drives my partner mad because she thinks half the fun of opening a gift is tearing off the paper, lol.

In Billy Elliot (although it is simply AMAZIIIING) when younger Billy is dancing with Older Billy, older billy reaches down to attatch the wire to younger billy's harness. the thing is, the buckle is practically down his pants and its just really skeevy looking from the audiance. the show is amazing, though. go see!
The new directorial change in so called revival of Les Mis when Eponine sings Littel Fall Of Rain and just before she dies, she tries to kiss Marius and he pulls away. He used to kiss her or let her kiss him.
I was told that the change was made b/c it's more heartbreaking in that way. I'd say it makes Marius look more jerk/clueless.
When the phone rings once and then goes to the answering machine. But when the character picks up, it rings until they get there. And when people don't type the right amount of digits in a phone number. How hard is it?!

stage fighting that is nowhere near the person they're hitting including;
more elphabas / glindas than i'd care to mention doing the slaps before the catfight
brent barrett and rachel york doing the fight/spanking scene on the kiss me kate dvd
now i realize they don't wanna slip but jeeze some of them are like a foot away just gently swinging in the air
I always assume the unwrapping presents things has more to do with $ and time... not needing to rewrap every night in a show or rewrap for another take in the case of a tv show.

When you think about it, it's heartbreaking because Eponine never even gets to kiss the man she loves. But you're right, it does make Marius look like an asshole.
I also hate really cheap special effects like projections instead of good old fashioned Tony worthy sets and of course, Lestat's famous pyrotechnic fire in front of a trap door so that when the vampires are "burning", it looks more like they're going to hell.

that's where i had first noticed it and it always bugged me to no end.
>When you think about it, it's heartbreaking because Eponine never even gets to kiss the man she loves.
It's already sad enough, I mean she is dying and Marius didn't even notice her feeling. So it's okay if she couldn't kiss him, but then after she dies, maybe Marius can kiss her for farewell.
The way Marius pulls back really is bothering to me. It's not like Eponine is a stranger or has a contagious disease. And yes, Marius' reaction is as if she is/has.

yeah i agree with someone who posted on about page 2.. i hate that in tarzan you can see the cables so much and the harasses. you're disney! figure out something creative to make it not seem AS obvious!
well, youre supposed to see the 'cables' theyre vines... the vine they swing in front of the curtain pre-show has the clip covered in what appears to be green tape. I dont know why they couldnt do that to all the clips unless it somehow interferes with their use.
the tarzan clips have a brutually simple cheap solution or 2;
1 PAINT THE DAMN THINGS
2 if you wanna get really fancy those clips come in smaller sizes and in GREEN

yeah i completely worded that wrong.. i understand the cables are supposed to be vines.. just the clips are very dumb looking.. like i said.. it's disney for crying out loud.. it's not like they can't spring for the more expensive clips! lol
I have friends who have spoken with cast members, and they weren't even sure.
The time I saw the show, Mano and Patti knocked over the coffin by accident, and when I spoke to him he said he was worried because people would think it was some really odd symbolism, that the audience would find some anger and spite towards Johanna from Toby's. Had I not been familiar with the show, I might've thought the same thing, haha. I thought the coffin was very beautiful and touching, no one that I went with had any problem with understanding the symbolism of the coffin in and of itself.
