re: any news on vanities?

According to this article, it's happening on Broadway in "mid-July":

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

re: any news on vanities?

Why is it only for 2 months? I was hoping a Broadway transfer...
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

Either testing the waters or couldn't get funding to do it: at least they got it TO NY.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

re: any news on vanities?

Second Stage is a not-for-profit subscription based company, kind of like Roundabout. It sets up a schedule of a certain number of shows each season, and since it needs to make room for new productions each season the runs are usually short. But since 2ST bought the Helen Hayes Theatre and will begin programming there in 2010, it's possible that Vanities could transfer there if it does well this summer.

re: any news on vanities?

I fear that it's not coming to Broadway, but I still have hope. I saw the out of town preview in LA and it was so amazing. It should AT LEAST go off-broadway.

re: any news on vanities?

Who knows. 2nd Stage is taking over the Hayes sometime soon, so it's not too far fetched that it could transfer to Broadway eventually. It just might take the long road like Next to Normal.
