Kerry Butler cries during Somewhere That's Green and during Suddenly Seymour. Not necessarily sobbing, but her eyes water up and tears come down her cheeks. At least when I saw it she did.
I have heard stories of actors who have become so involved with their characters emotionally that they can't come back out of character. Anyone know any particular actors with stories like that? I know I've heard a couple but I can't remember how they go.
Joizey she didn't cry when I saw LSOH.
Maybe you weren't close enough.

It's not just Hugh who can act out such a poignant moment in THE BOY FROM OZ ( he has sniffles in the next scene sometimes) - but I have also noticed how distraught Stephanie Block was in the scene when she was told of Judy's death. It was very emotional and you can hear her half-sob and see the slump in her shoulders .

In King Headly II on the 2001 Tony Awards Leslie Uggams was crying and sobbing when she did the part with Brian Stokes Mitchell.
In Barnum, on the video, Michael Crawford had tears in his eyes when Charity dies...gosh, that scene made me cry. *cries, sobs*

To those who brought up the wonderful Ms. Peters in this thread:
As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I thought of Berndette in Gypsy. I'm glad other people seem to agree. I think she's wonderful...what a talent.

This is the dumbest thread ever...who cares who cries on stage. Acting has nothing to do with crying on cue...jeeze

Sometimes pain is inflicted, if you cut yourself on the inside of your nose, generally everytime you touch it your eyes with water.
And Theres a thing called Silva Breathing or something, created by a psychologist that you can create true emotions through breathing paterns and set facial expressions
I really dont like the bad memory stuff that can screw with our heads too much.

i just saw the final Chicago show of Hairspray and was sitting next to the conductor as well as chatting with the company backstage as we said our "see ya laters" -- when Charlotte Crossley sang I KNOW WHERE I'VE BEEN.....every tear was real and pouring...Keala (Tracy understudy -- but WELL-deserving of the title spot) was bawling as well...needless to say...so was I.
can't vouch for any other actors - but since this song isn't "scripted" as a cry-scene, it was genuine and heartfelt (Charlotte has family here in Chicago) so i KNOW it was real.
