im auditioning for assassins on oct. 22 at my college and i was wondering what song i should sing for my audition as well as what one-minute monologue i should prepare...
I dont really have a limit to range, but im most comfortable in high tenor and bass, my middle range is just not as full. If i were to do a tenor song i think i'd do "something's coming" or "passegiata"
thoughts?

The best thing to do is to familiarize yourself with the show and pick who you want to audition for (that is, who you are most likely to be cast as). I was in "Assassins" not to long ago, and they also wanted both 16 bars and a monologue for the audition. I figured I was most likely to be cast as either Booth or Czolgosz, so I did part of Booth's "Take a look, Lee" monologue from the Oswald scene and for Czolgosz I sang "Loney Room" from Oklahoma, which is a pretty Czolgosz-ish song. I ended getting called back for both roles as well as the Proprietor. I was ultimately cast as Czolgosz.
So yeah, general rule of thumb: If you can, for open calls, familiarize yourself with the show and gear your audition towards a specific role. If they haven't said not to, and if you really think you're right for only one role (or will only accept that role for whatever reason), go ahead and sing one of that character's songs or do one of their speeches (but bring a backup in case they ask for something else).
