i had no idea what bare was until i went to the offical website. It sounds awesome....anyone know when it's touring?
BARE reopens at the Dodgers Stages Off-Broadway on September 22nd. It had a brief sold out run at ATA Off-Broadway and the Dodgers Stages run is open ended I believe. Updated On: 8/12/04 at 12:05 AM
The cast will also be performing a couple songs in Bryant Park on the 19th - don't miss it, it's free!

i guess it depeonds on where you're at in texas...if you're in dallas, no big deal. there's things for fags and theatre adn stuff...but if you're up north like me, where if you say the word theatre then everyone's like "oh, you must be gay" it's just stupid.
Well you are gay AND you're stupid so you must say "theater" a lot.

Ok. I'm sorry if the black comment made you mad. But there's a time to say "I quit" and just have normal conversations.
And no, I don't say "theater" unless I'm referring to the movies.
So what do you say when you talk about plays and/or musicals?

Don't let's be beastly to the Texans.
Bare will open in the fall in NY and the reaction both with critics and audiences will determine if and when it will tour or that the performance rights will be given to regionals right away. It doesn't strike me as the kind of piece that would make a lot of money outside of heavily urban areas like LA, SF, Chi, maybe DC, Miami and Boston. But I live in New York and what do we know?
And where in "north" Texas? Anyone who has done a bus and truck (like me) has played Witchita Falls and Amarillo and maybe even Lubbock. Granted this was eons ago, but nevertheless....

Someone please let me know if it is ever going to tour, it sounds like something I'd love. I hate Ohio.

I say "theatre". It's the same thing, but spelled different. Not sure why.
Or I just say "shows".

Insomniak doll,
Nobody knows if it will tour yet. First they've got to get a run.
Keep reading the Sunday Times to see if there's a run.

How long's the run at Dodger? I'm gonna be at school before it opens and I'll be back in December so if it's still running I'd LOVE to see it.
It's open ended I believe. They're not planning on closing after a short run, just seeing how it fares at a larger venue. The length of the run will depend on that I assume.

There's a song where part of the lyric goes:
"The closing when the customers don't come."

I know that they won't plan a tour without sucess on broadway first, but is this the kind of show that would tour? I know some never do because the budget is too small or they are not the kind of thing that would do well outside the NY theatre scene. I just want to know how likely a tour is.
No one can really say for sure, because it's an opinion thing at this point. If the show is successful at the Dodgers Stages, then moves to Broadway and is successful there, a tour is possible. I'd love for it to tour, get the message of the show out there.

I will keep my eyes open for rumors and reports. Would it be within the next year or two, do you think?
Yet again, it depends on what the show does in New York. If it is crazily successful Off-Broadway, it may move to Broadway. The success there will determine if it tours. The road BARE takes in the months/years coming will determine its future.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought it alread suceeded off-broadway and was moving to bway in the fall. What is the current schedule? And thanks for helping me, I'm too lazy to root through the monster BARE thread to find this stuff. And is there a script online anywhere?
It had a very short completely sold out run at ATA, that might have been Off-Off-Broadway, but whatever. It's moving to the Dodgers Stages, which is Off-Broadway, for an open ended run starting September 22nd. No script or anything online, but www.thebarees.com has a message board with lyrics posted everywhere. Updated On: 8/12/04 at 02:00 PM

Ok, thanks... so it is moving from off-off broadway to off-broadway now?
