I love the London cast recording. You can find it on dresscircle.co.uk
They cut "Watcha gonna do?" and "Inside your heart" and insted they added Mine all mine. My favorite song of the show. They also added a small intro of the show (Dude, what is it?) and some dialogues.
You can find some clips on the website: http://www.batboy.co.uk/

Posted: 4/18/05 at 8:20pm"Mine all Mine" is terrible. At least compared to "Inside My Heart". I was so dissapointed in Toronto when there was no "inside my Heart".

Posted: 4/18/05 at 8:36pmI like "Inside My Heart" but I prefer "Mine all mine", I think it works much better on the show; on the other hand, I hated "Hey Freak" (the one they put instead "Watcha gonna do?").

I strongly dislike the London cast in comparison to the Off - Broadway cast. Mine, all Mine isn't too terrible, except there is this one part that the harmony just does not sound right: "Look HOW the skies turned red," it just sounds weird to me. And i don't know if it's just me, but it's hard for me to detect Bat Boy's British accent .. did he just not use one because they were in London?! Meredith also sounds like she's as old as Shelley, and I'm not a fan of the guy who plays Pan. Basically I just like the Off Broadway cast WAYYY better. Some of the songs have revised lyrics and a lot of these actually work better. Example: Comfort and Joy: "I'm still not sure why people pray, I'm not the kind who complains, but please my thirst grows everyday, i feel it crawl through my veins." i don't really like the addition of the dialogue in the opening song either. This may be the way it's done in the show, but to me it just ruins the pacing of the whole song. It also upsets me when I hear a British accent slip into the show. Example: Show You a Thing or Two when Meredith says: "This week's been a little rocky."
Of course, most of those are minor things, but overall I just like the Off-Broadway CD better as a whole.

For what it's worth, I really like the London cast CD. I was lucky enough to the show both Off-Broadway and in the West End, and on stage I thought that they the talent of the casts were about equal. Unfortunatly, the London CD suffers from some appalling production and sound issues which affect the chorus particularly, but it was perfect on stage. As I'm British, I don't tend to notice any slip in accents
I also prefer 'Mine all mine' to 'Inside my heart', and like the addition of dialogue which makes the CD different enough from the OOBC to make it worth listening to. However, I agree with Lome about the weak 'Hey Freak' (which is just a variation on Mine all mine, and not sung that well), but I still play both recordings quite often
And no, they didn't use a specifically British accent for Bat Boy in the UK, though the line about learning the language from the BBC was still there and got a laugh, as did Devon May's delivery of "It's the social event of the season!"
