Hmmm...
For me it's a toss up between,
Climb Every Mountain
The Impossible Dream
And I Am Telling You...
and
Rose's Turn

I don't know about the best, but one of the best is Paul's solo at the end of the opening of A Chorus Line "Who am I anyway..." I always get chills hearing it.
Whatever happened to class?

three of my favorites would have to be stars and javert's suicide from les mis and lost in the wilderness from children of eden
for females i think all for laura and the reprise of it from woman in white are incredible and some people from gypsy. Dont rain on my parade is also a really good solo song as well

I love "People" from Funny Girl. I think it's a beautiful song.
Currently, one of my favorite solos is "The Life of the Party" from The Wild Party.
I also adore "Tell Me On A Sunday"

I get goosebumps every time I hear "The Impossible Dream." And I cry at the end of it. Love that song.

I love Home from The Wiz.
I agree with On My Own (no matter how overdone it is), and Climb Every Mountain is great too (a real b*tch to sing though
)
And then, do you know Monseiur Marius, I believe I was a little in love with you.

The "ultimates" for me would be...
Male:
Soliloquy --- Carousel
Female:
Rose's Turn --- Gypsy
Those songs are one-act plays unto themselves.
