better flying sequence...

In your opinion, which flying sequence in wicked is better? on tour or the broadway version? Also, does Shoshana "fly" the same way as Stephanie?

I'm a vegetarian.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I've only seen the tour version of WICKED, what is the difference between the flying sequences?

re: better flying sequence...

see, if I didn't like turkey and chicken so much I could be a vegetarian, as I hate eating cows but those tofu burgers are really good...

There is literally no difference between the sequence on tour and on Broadway. This thread is invalid.

UGH! A new day and again theatrefanatic17 is posting a million questions about Wicked! Anyone know a way to limit his posts?
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

re: better flying sequence...

The question should be whether the Elphaba flying sequence is better than the Lady of the Lake flying sequence at the end of "Find Your Grail." Clearly, all you need to do to win a Tony is fly.

re: better flying sequence...

I am probably going to get blasted for this but I think the flying sequence from Dance of the Vampires was better.

I also love when Peter Pan flies over the audience.

Cathy Rigby's flying is better than Sandy's or Mary's.

I like Jet Blue. But I prefer Song, because they have a Trivia game. Other than that, I don't like flying...
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

re: better flying sequence...

I saw a peanut stand, heard a rubber band,
I saw a needle that winked its eye.
But I think I will have seen everything
When I see an elephant fly.

I saw a front porch swing, heard a diamond ring,
I saw a polka-dot railroad tie.
But I think I will have seen everything
when I see an elephant fly.

I seen a clothes horse, he r'ar up and buck
And they tell me that a man made a vegetable truck
I didn't see that, I only heard
But just to be sociable I'll take your word

I heard a fireside chat, I saw a baseball bat
And I just laughed till I thought I'd die
But I'd be done see'n about everything
when I see an elephant fly.

Thank you.

Does Chitty really fly?

re: better flying sequence...

I'm also on the "Capn is not an idiot" side.

"Chitty's" flying sequence is far superior to "Wicked's," but Mary Martin's in "Peter Pan" is a classic.

re: better flying sequence...

Chitty really flies, and she's lovely. :-d

re: better flying sequence...

First of all, say nothing bad about the Captn.

Second, Cathy Rigby's Peter pan is far superior to either Sandy or Mary. She portrays the character like no one else can. And she can fly better than either one of them. No disrespect to Mary Martin.

Third, how can you compare the flying of a car to the flying sequence that Peter Pan does in I'm Flying?

re: better flying sequence...

I get annoyed with this pointless threads as well, until I read the reply posts that are so amusing.

But I'm sorry, Sandy Duncan's Peter Pan flying abilities win. OBVIOUSLY.
