Hmmmmm
Fortunately my local proffesional theatre (The Wharton Center) is host to both Non-Equity and Equity tours and it is probably only the hard-core theatre goers like myself that ever know the difference.
Heck. I remember seeing CATS just this past week and while I knew that many of them had just come from "Tokyo Disney" or "so and so Cruise-line" it was still an awesome and impressive show just when I saw the last touring version of CATS 4 yrs. ago. Also, the newer Non-Equity tour of GODSPELL came through here four years ago, and about 4 of their cast of 9 had JUST graduated from The University of Michigan and they were obviously Non-Equity performers then, yet amazing none the less.
This really can't be argued.
I've seen really ****ty Equity tours and I REALLY didn't like even the BROADWAY company "Les Mis"...not that I don't like the show, I just didn't think a handful of the performers were that good. Professional or non-professional can not go hand in hand with "talented" and "un-talented"...
Blagh!
