broadway bares and short people
broadway bares and short people#0
Posted: 6/9/05 at 9:51pmI am planning on going to Broadway Bares with a very short friend. Since we were going to do standing room, is this going to be a problem for my friend? (Think Oompa Loompa short) Or if we just get there early, will it not be a problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I can't speak for Broadway Bares, but I went to Stars in the Alley and I'm 5'0". Thank God I got there decently early, I was in like the third line of people standing and even then only saw between people's heads. Two or three rows back and I wouldn't have seen anything. I get your best bet is to get there as early as possible. But for the record, I really think they should have a separate midget-like area for people like us.
And OMG, one of my friends from HS's nickname for me was Oompa Loompa!

Posted: 6/10/05 at 1:42pmTheatre_Titan, maybe you could put Corine on your shoulders. Or perhaps she has a press pass that will let you get VIP treatment. Have you asked her?
re: broadway bares and short people#12
Posted: 6/10/05 at 2:45pmActually Chita, I kinda liked being called oompa loompa. Other short people were called by my same friend lawn gnome, elg, midget and Thumbelina, I liked being Oompa Loompa best especially since he was in Drama class with me so I improved I was an oompa loompa alot. I loove that movie!
re: broadway bares and short people#13
Posted: 6/10/05 at 2:47pmI'm 4'11 and proud! Don't call me an Oompa Loompa, even though that comment actually made me laugh hysterically.

To answer your question, you're SOL.

Well of course, I forgot! Your sensiblity is the standard. If it doesn't offend you than it must not be offensive. Got it.
I had not received the memo. But now I'm on board. Carry on.

Adam-Chris....we're the same height..I hear your pain.
re: broadway bares and short people#18
Posted: 6/17/05 at 4:16pmYour friend will not be able to see. I am 6'3" and I had an obstructed view half the time during the first time I went. That is why I go for the VIP seating now. Believe me it is worth the extra $$$.

I can't tell you how many time I've been standing watching something a parade, a show or whatever and a tall person will walk right in front of me and stand! I've been like "!". "Excuse me, sir!" And they actually have the look of surprise that I would say something.
Oh well, what can you do?
I do have a sence of humor about my height but it does irritate me when people are being insensitive.
(Actually, when I dream....I'm the same size as everyone else. Crazy, huh?)
re: broadway bares and short people#20
Posted: 6/17/05 at 6:17pmI'm happy to know that I'm not the only short person out there. This thread made me smile. "Oompa loompa short..."I love you people. Elyse. No day but today.
