Are there any broadway singers who can easilly cross over into something like opera or classical? the only people that come to mind are Ashley Brown and sara jean ford. I cannot think of anyone else.

Liza from Broadway to Easy Listening To Dance (a La Pet Shop Boys) ?
I agree with EvaDiva about Cheno. That was the first person who popped in my head.
I was thinking more of broadway to opera/classical.
Gary Morris is a country star who then did Les Miz. Also did a great recording of Wind Beneath my Wings. You don't often hear country stars do Broadway but he was great!
Here's the list off the top of my head:
Audra McDonald. She did a couple of arias in Master Class, and she did some one-woman opera last year or 2 years ago.
Rebecca Luker has sung with the New York City Opera.
Kristin Chenoweth was supposed to do Alice in Wonderland, an opera, but I think that project stalled.
And I don't remember his name, but wasn't the guy who played the lead in The Most Happy Fella a classical/operatic singer?
Oh, and Michel Bell (Joe) in the 1994 Broadway revival of Showboat was also an operatic singer, if I recall correctly...
Lord, how did I forget Luker??? I have the Aria 2 CD on iTunes. I had the privledge of seeing her as Mrs. Banks, and was amazed at how versitile she was, having already listened to her sing operetic songs.
well Cheno's MFA is in Opera Performance... and PATTI! she can do anything and everything...
Marin Mazzie
Patti LuPone has done both opera and mainstream theater.
Kelli O'Hara! Wonderful at everything I have ever heard her sing!

Rebecca Caine and Sarah Rice.
And I can't believe no one's mentioned Anthony Warlow yet!
I am going home and putting "Results" on!

Patti Lupone and Audra McDonald did an opera together in LA. There seem to be more women who have really good traing in opera than men. I'm trying to think of men who have or do crossover.
