Posted: 4/2/05 at 2:09pmDoes anyone know when the season begins for Broadway shows to play each other in softball and where they play, any dates set yet? Or do they still do that? Thanks for any help.
re: broadway softball#1
Posted: 4/2/05 at 2:10pmI believe it's Thursday nights in Central Park. I was supposed to play last year for a show, but couldn't do it, and it was definitely Thursday night. Who knows, sorry I can't be of more help.

Awww! I love going to games! Doesn't it start in May or June?
ETA: Thursday nights? It used to start Thursday morning, I think before noon, and go till about four o clock.
I know there is a website, I just don't remember it.
Ooh, and they play at Hecksecker Field (I know I spelled that one wrong). Take the 1 or 9 to Columbus Circle and your right there at the fields.

Don't The Producers usually win?
I love the games. To anyone who goes, a word to the wise-When they say "heads up", they mean HEADS UP!
re: broadway softball#11
Posted: 4/2/05 at 7:08pmI believe The Producers actually have it written on their stagedoors that they won the last few years (I heard that Matthew Broderick was their MVP)

It is great drama. Most people kinda stink, but I've seen a few folks who were pretty good. I've also seen some people get hurt, which is kinda sad.

Posted: 4/2/05 at 7:27pmWhat first got me interested in this was in Boston last Oct. when "Millie" and "Hairspray" were there on Tour, they played a game for Broadway Cares, and it was hysterical and one of the funniest events I have seen. They were singing theatrical chants from the benches, dancing moves from the other casts show and mimicking their songs. One of the guy ensemble members went sliding into 1st base in the splits, the girl playing Amber, Jordan, was running from 2nd to 3rd and the "Millie" outfielders grabbed her and held on to her in the air,Carly, who plays Tracy, ran out to save her. Darcy hit a great ball---to the "Hairspray" bench and they were all fighting over who got to keep the ball. by the way, a couple of the "Millie" cast were really HOT! I figure they are more serious in NYC, but am looking forward to catching a game when I am there next.

Posted: 4/28/05 at 2:14pmI'm pretty sure Mistress goes every Thursday, I went the last one. Producers won the last couple of years? She thought it was Beauty and the Beast...oh well. They were certainly doing great against Rent. And I got to play with a cute little doggie from someone in the Producer's team. And Little Women does not currently have a team this season. But yeah, I'd recommend the games, they were a lot of fun! I posted this before, but I'll just mention it again, last week we watched Wicked vs. ASU, it was a very close game, but Wicked won, Shosh scored one of the important runs as a pinch runner, and ASU certainly has the most spirit of any team.

theyre expected to keep playing the season- forming a team is a committment.
the commish said that it has happened in the past where too many people move on to other projects (tours or whatever) and not enough people show up to make a team on a weekly basis and they had to drop out, but theyre expected to keep playing.
